Hi Ali,

60 degress @ Idle or full load? 60 degress @ idle is a little bit high I think, @ my system I have an idle temperature @ 35 degress and @ heavy load round about 55 degress only with my global winfop 32 silent.
When I am starting my additional fan on the left case site (directly above the processor) I get round about 10 degress less.

System: TB 1100
Abit KT7-Raid
non overclocked

i recommend to get some extra case fans on to help with air flow in your case then get a good quality copper heatsink that should do the job for you and get some arctic silver heatsink paste

60 degrees ?

change your fan NOW, buy one Thermaltake fan (7000 rpm), and open your case (cpu unit).

Well I built a modest cooled case, my gaming rig like 32 Celcius Case and 46 Celcius CPU. CPU always under 50 Celcius whatever game I'm fragging at.

BTW, I'm new here so be easy on me.... :)

my athlon xp 2000+ stays about 52.5 to 53.5 at idle and 56 while playing serious sam or quake 3. definitely have to keep the air flow moving.the cables mentioned above is right on !!

I hope your talkin F temps and not C or you got problems, i have an XP1700 without 15 case fans that runs 31-32 c at idle, also depends on whether your mobo has the halt command detect active. if not your temp will run up to 10 c too high because its not at TRUE idle.

FYI i have a total of 4 fans (if you count the 1 in the PS) i dont have ANY extra holes in my case, and no plans to add any.

my system temp never goes higher than 33c even while fraggin 3D games
my cpu temp never goes over 45c under those same conditions

AMD tech docs will tell you max DIE temp is 90c btw !!

I had the same problem with a firend's 3000+

I used to have 60+ constant temperature when idle, and when busy, it turns off automatically.
I solved the problem with a GlobalWin CAK84 copper heatsink.

Your Cpu there Creates a lot of heatm, unlinke the Barton core.

The Aero 7 Hfs From coolermaster is extremly good as well.

Might be:
I) False detact by the motherboard sensor.
II) Dirty cooling system.
III) Bad cooling system.
IV) Operating system.

solution:
I) Try to search for a bios upgrade.
II) Clean the cooling system.
III) Get a good cooling system (Volcano 11 by thermal take)
IV) Use CPUIdle (www.CPUIdle.com , this software is cheap)

Good Luck.
