Vista: A Disappointment to Gamers

This is also the reason why I wont spend much more for PCs. Ill simply switch to a console. Especially with the PS3 supporting mouse and keyboard, the xbox360 will prolly be soon too.

When XP was released I was heavily into Counter-Strike and like most others in our clan and other gamers we stayed with Windows 98 since it played better. We complained that XP was a system hog and that the performance was slower. Over time, of course, we all got better computers and XP was a natural progression and proved to be a far superior OS with the patches and updates and a better computer to run it. I won't predict whether or not Vista will fall into this category but it's possible. In fact, it seems probable considering we already have dual core processors with quad cores coming out this month. With processors taking a huge leap in performance soon and graphics cards beginning to step up it seems likely this could be one hell of a gaming platform. Of course, there are more "ifs" than I can count at this point. So, I'll wait to allow MS to patch the OS up, for drivers to come out and then be tweaked, and also to let technology progress a little more. DX10 cards are just now being talked about and AMD just bought ATI. Maybe by the time I feel ready the quad cores and DX10 cards with good performance will be somewhat affordable. Just seems like a good time to wait and let things shake out a bit. Maybe later, the PC can progress to a platform worthy of being used much like a console in addition to a normal usage computer.

Tiger Woods 07. Great on Xbox 360. Crap on a stick for the PC. EA is screwing its PC customers. No doubt that the console has gotten more love for quality of game titles and how each game plays. Sad but true. Hope it changes in the future but the developers seem to have a more vested interest in making one purchase the consoles and the games that are made for them, which are typically more expensive than the PC versions.

Actually, making games for a console is far more easy. You never have to find bugs that are caused by different hardware/software combinations. If it runs on one console it will run on every.

Not to get on your side here, but I also see another reason for going to a console: No annoying sound of spinning fans anymore. Yes I know you can build a silent PC, but you also know youre sacrificing performance with that and it costs more. P.S.: I have to admit I was a PC only fanboy for quite some time. Now that consoles are so close to the PC, I dismissed that thinking.
