Mark Rein has added this to his post on the Epic Messageboards about the Unreal Tournament 2003 demo:

The demo WILL include bots so you'll be able to play offline against bots. The single player campaign is more elaborate than choosing a level, a bot skill level, number of bots, etc. To play a botmatch you simply choose Instant Action whereas to play online you choose Multiplayer.

Msnbc.com's Steve Kent has had the chance to talk too id Software co-founder John Carmack and Tim Willits about Doom III. Here's a byte from his interview:

According to Carmack, the man who designed the game engines for the various versions of Castle Wolfenstein 3Ds, Dooms, and Quakes, the startlingly realistic environs of Doom III were not possible until new developments in computer hardware opened the proverbial door.

Doom III is very much hardware driven, and one of the controversies of this year?s E3 was that the game was demonstrated on the latest ATI graphics card rather than a card from NVidia.

New client and server updates for Half-Life and Counter-Strike are in the final phases of development and will be released in the coming weeks. Both updates (Half-Life 1.1.1.0 and C.S. 1.5) include the Ricochet Mod, phase two of the recently introduced anti-cheat technology, as well as various fixes and tweaks. The Ricochet Mod source, which includes animation blending and multi-serve technology, will be added to the Half-Life SDK. In addition, Counter-Strike 1.5 includes de_piranesi, a new mission created by Iikka Keranen.

As E3 2002 comes to an end I thought this would be a good time to do a round up of best movie trailers from the show. Enjoy!

Look what's posted on the Epic Messageboards by Mark Rein! :D

1) What build version of UT2003 was being displayed at E3?

The latest one compiled just before E3. This was the first build I saw with a working Ion Cannon which is a ton of fun to use! What we showed on the show floor is essentially what we think the demo will be which consists of two DM maps (Antalus and Curse3), one Double Domination map (Suntemple), one CTF map (Chrome) and one Bombing Run map (Endagra). But, be warned, this could change. I don't believe there are any plans for a single player campaign for the demo.

Just like to say a big thanks to Lori for helping me get a press pass! Ok peeps want to know what your getting with the Game ?

Here's a new DOOM III gameplay movie that was taken inside the preview booth at E3 by Fragland. The video is rather shaky and occasionally out of focus , but image and sound quality are decent, and the ten minute DivX clip (46.1 MB) offers a fair insight into the gameplay, environment, weapons and monsters that were demonstrated at the show by id Software.

Update: I've added 3 mirrors!
