Poor 3D Mark 2001 Score on fast computer

Hi all My 3D Mark score is only 15767.I think it should be over the 17k barrier (dual ddr board - high cpu speed). Other non-graphics benchmarks such as Sandra memory and cpu arithmetic tests are as high as expected.

Hi all

My 3D Mark score is only 15767. I think it should be over the 17k barrier (dual ddr board - high cpu speed). Other non-graphics benchmarks such as Sandra memory and cpu arithmetic tests are as high as expected..I am using Windows XP Catalyst 3.1 drivers with DirectX 9 installed. Any hints are appreciated...

I think there's a problem with your catalyst driver settings...
Disable antialiasing and advanced texture function.
Try also download rage3d 3.8, this program can optimize
catalyst's settings.

Hi. Thank you for ur reply. I re-installed Catalyst 3.1 and also have the Rage3D - latest version. AGP 8x is enabled along with FastWrites. Card is @300 and 700 for the core and memory respectively..I know it sounds weird. Same problem

Rest of the system is OK, memory benchmark above 4030kb/sec in sandra. Could it be something with the chipset drivers?

Try closing everything before running it if u have anything open,
hmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thats weird, my ti4200 runs 11,000 so I dont think ur score is too shabby! lol, on a athlonXP1800+

Im not sure why its that "low" my friend has the same setup as yours but with RD ram and he scores 16000, only

Hi there. It could be because i have 32 threads running whilst benchmarking always. I use the word only because relating to a system which scores in both memory scores 40xx whilst the fastest RDRAM system clocks @ 33xx the scores are low. Nikemarine ur friend is another example which proves i'm right. He has 16000 whilst i have 15700 with a CPU scoring 11400 and 6850 and 4gb/sec memory bandwidth. I think i will just give up but i am sure it is a configuration problem...
:o

Correct me if I'm wrong..

Could be that you have a Radeon 9700 pro OEM edition (this means that it's not that good in performance compared to "normal" 9700 pro's

I got 18, 141 with my ATi Radeon 9800 pro. My computer specs is given below in my signature. Maybe there some problems with your ATi Catalystic drivers. But I didn't have any problems like that with my computer. Now what I'm trying to do is to overclok my graphic card speed using ATi tool so that I could get around or more than 20, 000 as my 3D Mark 2001 score. I'm new to this overclocking and stuff but I'm learning a lot about it. My default one was on 378.00/338.00Mhz but to get around 20, 000, I overclocked it to 183.66/337.50Mhz. And plus in properties> Settings> advanced> 3D, for the 3D profile my friend typed in AA/AF custom. So before I benchmark it I click on that clicked ok. I also exit many unwanted programs and change my windows style to Windows classic style so it might go a bit more faster. I often benchmark it in the early morning or in the night so that its cold and I might get some additional score. I also don't quickly do the benchmarking as soon as I switch on the computer instead I do it after like 5 minutes. I have ADSL (broadband) soI disable that too. After doing all of them I benchmark. That's how I got my highes score. I don't have that much idea about what kind of problem you have but try some of the above like what I did. So you might atleast be able to get it increased by 1000 points for 3D Mark 2001. That's my advice. Also when you benchmark it next time tell us your score in it. Good luck on your benchmark!!!!
