Hey guys, awhile ago I got the albatron ti4280PV. It worked great for like the first month and a half, but then weird things started showing up in D3D games and weird spots appeared on the BIOS screen. So, I RMA-ed it, and got another card. My computer is the server for my network, so I leave my computer running all night of the time. When I got this card (card #2) I left my computer on the night and when I woke up, the card had the same problem the other one did. I contacted Albatron and they told me to bring my computer system up to them so they can see the problem itself (they are about 1hour away from me). I did so and they gave me a new card on the spot. This was last week. Im starting to see these artifacts show up again in the game I play most, BF1942. I've taken the card and put it into other systems after I noticed these anomalies, and they have been appearing on those systems as well. The questions I have are:
Could my agp slot be frying these cards?
Albatron cards suck?
Anyone else with similar problems??

My computer has great cooling, I don't overclock or anything either. I just think the fan (replaced it with a thermaltake gf4 cooler) and ramsinks aren't doing a good job.

Windows 2000 Pro

Well, seeing as how I feel heat is the problem, I left the voltage and the BIOS on the VGA at stock level. Drivers = Detonator FX

I have an Albatron Ti4200 w/128MB (the original, not the newer turbo version) which I have been running at 270/520 for a couple months straight now. I NEVER turn off my computer, it runs 24/7/365. The only time its down is for reboots from software installs and hardware upgrades.
I have never had a problem with my card other than crappy drivers. I am currently using 43.45 and have no problems with it.
I have a good case for cooling (antec sx-1030), so I've never had a prob with that. I am just using the stock heatsink/fan on the card. No problesm with artifacts or anything.
Have you tried underclocking your card to verify that heat IS the problem? Sounds like a good place to start. If they are manufacturing cards that can't handle the default speeds, maybe that explains why they are replacing yours with no prob. Maybe ask for a different model.
Like I said, mine was the cheapest Ti4200 w/128MB I could get at the time from newegg.com, it has been running OCed 24/7 and I play AA:Ops a lot. And never had a problem that wasn't driver related.

I just got the Geforce Tweak utility. I underclocked the memory frequency from 513mhz to 500mhz. The card still gets as hot as it did before. What frequencies do you suggest?

Working with the same card (Albatron Ti4200 w/128MB) and experience similar problems. In my dual MP 1600 system, my single XP 1900 system, my athlon 1.0Ghz system, and my Athlon XP 2100 system DirectX games simply crash, seemingly regardless of the heat in my systems. I have contacted Albatron via e-mail of this problem, and refered them to forums such as this wherein dozens of people describe their problems with this card, but their representative insists that there isn't a problem with the card. I have found that enabling anisotropic filtering decreases the error rate of my card (go figure), but this is a horrible fix as this feature decreases frame rates considerably. OpenGL games, such as Jedi Knights II and Quake 3 do not have this problem, but Battlefield 1942 and UT2003 do. Unfortunetly there is no BIOS update from Albatron for this card, so I still haven't found a good solution to the problem. Let me know if ya find anything helpful.

I totally agree. When I had my problems, they quickly blamed my system and not their product. Since I live close to their HQ in Cali, I drove up my system and proved them wrong. They then replaced my videocard with their older one (the one with samsung ram, which works better for some reason) and so far, that fixed the problem. Keep us posted on what happens.

Go to BIOS and make sure the voltage is set to 1.5v instead of the default (for asus motherboards) 1.6v. I did this after I recieved my new RMA card, and it works fine. Hope that helps.

i will try it. i hope it will work with this card....i already used for one mouth (with 1.6V that asus defult). i don't think Albatron will let me do RMA again.

I've had a total of 3 RMA's. On my 3rd one, I noticed the voltage wasn't at 1.5, so I set it to 1.5. This was about 3 months ago. I have yet to see the problem occur. You should definately try it too with your new RMA.

could u tell me how did u tell them about ur card?
when u asking for the third RAM?
i remember my second time RAM ---- they first said is my system problem....
now i have no idea , if they asking me the same question?

OK, this is what you do: call (714)893-8113 (albatron tech supp.) ext. 131 (this is the extension for David, the guy who helped me). Tell him your problem (tell them its the card, and not ur system at fault). Then if he is still skeptical, refer him to the websites out there that has people with the same problem. When I went to Albatron HQ, I showed them www.newegg.com and searched ti4280. I then clicked the read comments section and showed them what other people thought of the card. You should do the same.
