Abit BD7 Review & A DDR Shootout Review!

Published by [NT] 0

I got a mail from Slim of Tech-PC. The Abit BD7 Review, here's a snippet:
"The inclusion of 3 onboard USB 1.1 ports instead of the standard 2 is another added bonus, plus the very useful error code display and onboard power and reset switches give this board some rarely seen features. However the decision to leave out USB 2.0, Firewire, on board LAN, and the fact that the i845D chipset doesn't allow ATA133 means I can't give all my praise to the included features list, saying that this board is meant to be an overclockers board not an all in one solution. Still some of the more advanced features would have been nice." The midrange DDR Shootout, XP1600 v P-IV 1.6 on DDR Platforms, here's a snippet:
"With Intel dropping the prices of their latest offering, the P4 Northwood, you can now grab a DDR P4 system for little more than the AMD counterpart, making it a tough decision from the buyer's point of view. So what do you go for? In this review I compare two DDR systems - AMD's XP1600+ and its direct competitor, the Intel 1.6GHz Northwood. On paper they look fairly evenly matched. AMD's PR+ rating system tells us to expect the performance of a 1600MHz processor, whilst Intel's Northwood is a true 1600MHz." Click on Read More... for direct links to read the whole reviews.

Creative Nomad Jukebox 3.0 Review!

Published by NewsFactory 0

t-break has published the review of the Creative Nomad Jukebox 3 which was launched in Singapore today. Here's a bit from the review:

The Jukebox was an original product and problems were bound to be associated with it. For example, the unit was big and bulky and navigation was cumbersome. We believe Creative has spent the last year or so listening, analyzing and developing the new version of Jukebox which is labeled version 3.0. In case you're wondering what happened to v2.0, that was just a small upgrade that increased the hard drive capacity from 6GB to 20GB.

VR-Zone Reviews!

Published by NewsFactory 0

Here's some new hardware reviews from VR-Zone.

Triplex Millennium Silver GF4 Ti4600 Preview: This card is based on a shiny silver PCB which not only looks cool on appearance but runs cooler and emits lower EMI too as claim by Triplex. The card is kept in a cooling looking silver suitcase and comes with 128MB of DDR SDRAM, DVI Out and TV out connectors.

High Performance DDR SDRAM: This time we took Corsair, Mushkin, Samsung, KingMax, Micron and Winbond for a spin. The competition is really intense as only the best DDR SDRAM are included but it is interesting to see who finally emerged as cream of the crop. We have used the EPoX 8K3A+ and done some very high FSB overclocking of over 200Mhz and stress test the memories using most aggressive memory settings of 2-2-2-5-1. Some make it and some don't.

Antec SX-635 Computer Case Review!

Published by NewsFactory 0

Just got word from Tim that he's just finished his review of the Antec SX-635 computer case. Here's what he's saying:

Though the SX-635 is smaller then its bigger brother, its still no feather-weight. An empty SX-635 weights in at 23 pounds and that number only goes up once you start adding components. Still, all that weight is worth it.

Note if their site is running slow that's cos they were " Site of the Nite " on TechTV the ScreenSavers last night and it's making their server slow too a crawl. Hit read more for the case reviw.

USB 2.0 5-port PCI Host Card Review!

Published by NewsFactory 0

Just got word that Tim has completed a review on a USB 2.0 5-port PCI Host Card. Here is a quote from his review:

Looking for USB speeds up to 480Mbps and backwards compatibility. Then you have found USB 2.0! Firewire provides great speeds of up to 400Mbps. But, there are very few firewire products on the market. It just seams that almost everything these days has USB 1.1 and more recently USB 2.0 compatibility. Today we are looking at a USB 2.0 host card from XPCGEAR.COM. Which provides 5 USB ports that support USB 2.0 specifications to your computer.
