Intel Pentium 4 2.4Ghz Review!

Published by NewsFactory 0

VR-Zone has done up a review on the new Pentium 4 2.4Ghz based on 0.13 micron Northwood core. Pentium 4 2.4Ghz is the first processor to be mass produced using smaller circuits and large 300mm wafers.

Also they have managed to overclock this P4 2.4Ghz to 3.15Ghz air cooled which is higher than what can be achieved with the P4 2.2Ghz so it may give some indications that the core is better.

they have compared this Pentium 4 2.4Ghz against the Athlon XP 2000+ and done a whole series of benchmarks to test out the CPU, Memory, Gaming, Rendering, Video, CAD, Office and Content Creation performance.

XBox Hands On @ WinOSCentral!

Our good pal David over at the other batcave has reviewed Microsoft's gaming console XBox. Here is a snip: This is the fun part, so you've told me all about this console, how's the action? In one word, unbelievable, the console itself shows some wonderful power and potential. I suspect as developers continue to get a better handle on the hardware and it's capabilities, as seen with other consoles the games will continue to improve. As always, game quality is developer specific, but I suspect the upper potential could be amazing. The system features a comfortable, easy to use controller. Check out the XBox test

Gigabyte GA-7VRXP (KT333) v1.1 Motherboard Review!

Published by NewsFactory 0

t-break has published a review for the v1.1 of Gigabyte's KT333 motherboard- the GA-7VRXP. Here's a bit from the review:

Gigabyte has sure loaded this board good. Starting off, this board has an integrated NIC, USB 2.0 as well as ATA-133 RAID powered by the PROMISE chip. Audio onboard is also powered by a Creative chip- which is a lot better than the AC'97 codec and even the CMedia chip. Also found on the board is the Gigabyte-invented Dual BIOS which helps against BIOS attacks and corruption.

ECS L4S5MG Motherboard Review!

Published by NewsFactory 0

Just got word from Aron@Aselabs.com that they have posted up their review of ECS L4S5MG Motherboard. Here's a quote from their review:

The L4S5MG is a great board for the price. The numbers and the features of this board are better than the K7S5A that I have (also made by ECS). ECS is making progress with their boards and I hope they continue to do so. I'm not giving the board an overall score, but I do recommend it. If I wanted a board, I would definitely consider purchasing this one.

Leadtek GeForce 4 Ti4600 WinFast A250 Ultra TD Review!

Published by [PM] 0

HotHardware has taken Leadteks latest Nvidia based graphics card to their testing labs and found it to be an excellent performer. What is unique about this card is the massive HSF sporting two fans. Here is a little snip: However, upon closer inspection, you'll notice that the HSF assembly is a well designed tailored custom fit to the PCB, RAM Chips and GPU. Even the fans have mesh filters inserted in the top covers, to keep the dust down to a minimum inside the fan assembly. HotHardware review

This is the latest motherboard from EPOX and it utilises the latest KT333 CE Chipset that has been getting a lot press recently due to the sheer performance it can offer. Asus K7M266D Athlon Mainboard Review!

Published by [PM] 0

AC from NVmax has notified me of their latest review of the K7M266D a dual CPU AMD chipset based board. Here is a snip of what they have to say about it: I was watching and waiting just for the perfect motherboard, but due to delays with AMD's MP chipset (766 Southbridge), the wait was long. I then started hearing about the redesigned chipset called the MPX (768 Southbridge). The MP supports (2) 64bit/33mhz (5 volt) slots while the MPX supports (2) 64bit/66Mhz (3.3 volt) slots and an AC'97 codec. Both support (3) 32Bit/33Mhz slots. Warp 2 the review

Custom Sandblasted Window Designs!

Published by NewsFactory 0

Just got word from Matt@OverclockersClub.com about a new project that they've been working on. Here's what Matt is saying.

Today I have a very unique item that I will be reviewing. It's a custom sand blasted plexi window! With a custom sand blasted window you can show off your uniqueness, if you know what I mean. If your not very good with artwork they have over 20 designs to choose from! Why have a window sand blasted when you can go buy the sticker applique cheaper? Well simply put, a sand blasted window refracts more light thru than a sticker.

DivX 5.0 Reviewed!

Published by [NT] 0

I saw this @ Tom's Hardware and this is what they said:
The new generation of DivX-Codec 5.0 is now ready for downloading at DivX.com. The main difference between it and its predecessors is that only the standard version is still free. The "Pro" version, with many new features, now costs $30. Anyone who cannot do without this program, and yet has no money, will have to develop a fondness for a banner ad-sponsored version. Despite this situation, which has generated controversy among many users, one thing must be said for the DivX Networks team: they developed a codec that compresses the data volume of DVDs to an eleventh of their original size, with almost the same quality. This makes DivX 5.0, which is compatible with MPEG-4s, ideal for transmitting audio and video data over the Internet. It also makes it possible for a Hollywood classic to be burned onto a CD-ROM. This last statement is true, if the film is no longer than 100 minutes and if you insert a blank CD with a capacity of 700 MB or more. Click on Read More... for a link to see the whole review.

7 Years Of Graphics!

Published by [NT] 0

I saw this @ Accelenation.com and this is what they said:
This article should really be called "7 Years of 3D Graphics" because 3D acceleration seemed a suitable starting point. For this reason I decided to chart the endeavors of those companies that have produced 3D graphical processors. Some of these have also produced their own boards, but to cover all of the board manufactures would be too great an undertaking. For this reason most of the images in this article refer to the chip used and not the board name. Click on Read More... for the link to the article.

Athlonxp.com Reviews!

Published by NewsFactory 0

Just got word from Falcon@athlonxp.com that they have posted up a few reviews that could interest you. So here goes:

1) AthlonXP 2100+ Review AMD has become a player in the world of computing. With a line of processors that not only meets the performance requirements of today's market but also caters to builders/end users/gamers on a budget.

2) Nvidia GeForce4 TI4600 Review Less than two months ago, Nvidia released their souped-up version of the GeForce3, artfully named Ti500. Core clock speed had been increased from 200MHz to 240MHz while DDR memory had increased from 230MHz to 250MHz. Referencing our early Ti500 review, the increase in performance over its predecessor, the GeForce3 was less than ten percent.

3) PNY's Verto GeForce4 MX review Though Nvidia is currently perched high and enjoying a commanding lead in the high-end video card market, both the lucrative OEM and the Corporate markets require a cost effective solution capable of delivering performance from the casual gamer to the every day web surfer.

Logitech Z-560 Review THX Certified Speaker Review!

Published by [PM] 0

Mark Muschett has finished his review of Logitech's top line 4.1 speaker system. Interesting enough that they can compare it with an engineering sample of the same set they got beforehand. Here is a snip: The Z-560 comes with 4 identical one-way satellite speakers, a front firing subwoofer with an 8" driver, a handy control box (called the SoundTouch Control Center) and all the required wires and cables. The SoundTouch Control Center has controls for power, master volume, surround (called fader), and subwoofer levels and a button for a DSP based feature called M3D Matrix technology. The Control Center also has an amplified headphone jack. More on these controls and features follows below. Each satellite speaker comes with a self-supporting pedestal that can be reversed and used as a wall mount. Warp 2 the review
