H.I.S. Excalibur Radeon 9600XT Platinum Turbo @ Tweaknews.net

Published by Newsfactory 0

With value, performance, good looks and overclocking ability wrapped into one tidy package, the HIS 9600XT Turbo in my mind would be a good deal for anyone looking to save a couple or buck without the cut in features. >From the minute I opened the box, this card has been nothing but a pleasant surprise with features and aesthetics usually reserved for cards with a much higher pricetag. If you are in the market for an excellent performing videocard at a great price, this card should be on your short list. This card nicely blurs the boundary between mainstream and enthusiast.

Intel Pentium 4 3.2Ghz Extreme Edition Northwood Processor @ Tweaknews

Published by Newsfactory 0

Intel's Extreme Edition version of Northwood is targeted towards a specific and focused area of today's consumer. If you want something that is incredibly fast right out of the box for high speed gaming, extensive graphic work or just bragging rights at stock speeds, this processor is for you. The 3.2EE easily held its own in most benchmarks even against a steroid induced 2.4C clipping along with a 1Ghz+ FSB and 3.2Ghz.

But even so, say you still have a little overclocker left in you and want to see what extra cycles you can squeeze out of your new purchase, with some decent air-cooling you could easily overclock it above 3.6Ghz. Now I know if I had a water-cooling or a refrigeration setup, 4Ghz wouldn't be far out of reach. I personally can't wait to reach this goal.

Mad Dog Multimedia's Entertainer 7.1 sound card @ TechReport

Published by Newsfactory 0

Mad Dog Multimedia's Entertainer 7.1 is one of the first discrete sound cards to use VIA's mid-range Envy24HT-S audio controller, and it promises to deliver great sound for audio enthusiasts on a budget. I've put an Entertainer through a punishing trifecta of performance, quality, and listening tests to see if it can hold its own against its discrete competition, integrated motherboard audio, and even a high-end alternative. Read on to find out how the Entertainer fares.

Upgrade to gaming bliss for under £150 ($275)

Published by [NT] 1

It seems like only a few months since I installed my Geforce4 4200ti, but time has passed and new games have been released. The last generation of graphics cards don?t cut-the-mustard anymore. Frequently having to reduce the screen size, texture quality and turn off/down FSAA in a recent game does get frustrating. Especially when you see, the beautiful hi-resolution, in-game screenshots with FSAA set to max and Antistropic filtering enabled too.

Sony DRX-510UL DVD±R/RW Drive Reviewed @ GeekExtreme

Published by [NT] 0

Today, we look at the Sony DRX-510UL External Firewire/USB2 DVD±R/RW Burner - is this the proper external solution for you? Let's find out.

Quote: The Sony DRX-510UL is a multiformat (DVD±R/RW) drive that burns both format DVD discs as well as CD-R and CD-RW discs. A little bit larger than a standard internal optical drive, it is still relatively compact and feels very solid -- not flimsy at all. The clean-cut design is a nice addition to any desk, being simple yet very nice looking.

Creative Gigaworks S750

Published by Newsfactory 0

Just got word from Nordic Hardware that their Creative Gigaworks S750 THX 7.1 speaker review is out!

While 7.1 audio cards were being introduced, not to say Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS, the need for a speaker system with a 7.1 configuration was born. The little bit cheaper series Inspire was adapted quickly and the result was Inspire T7700 which was delivered with seven satellites and one subwoofer. Though, my self and other enthusiasts which sat with a Megaworks 5.1 was waiting with excitement for a sequel to that system to come. Megaworks had before been the flagship in the fleet of speaker systems and there are two versions, 510D and 550 THX.
