Philips Aurilium External Soundcard @ TechSpot

Published by Newsfactory 0

Philips made quite a splash in the soundcard market a few years ago when they introduced the PSC 70x family of soundcards, in particular the Acoustic Edge which I?m sure a lot of you may still use as your ?primary? soundcard.

The PSC805 Aurilium is Philips? latest effort to take on the somewhat crowded soundcard market still dominated by Creative Labs. The Aurilium is a certified USB 2.0 external soundcard which doesn?t differ much in concept with the SoundBlaster Extigy that we have previously reviewed.

Athlon 64 3200+ & 3400+ review

Published by [NT] 0

Bit-tech.com has Athlon 64 3200+ & 3400+ reviewed. "Fundamentally there is only one real difference between the Athlon 64 and the 940 pin FX51 CPU ; the dual channel memory controller. You would be forgiven for thinking that this will seriously hamper the performance of the 64 but as you will find out later, this turns out not to be the case! Socket 940 has a major disadvantage in that you need to change you RAM to ECC Registered RAM just to get the system to boot up, Socket 754 on the other hand uses your normal, everyday DDR400 RAM."

Corsair TwinX PC4400 DDR550 Dual Channel Memory Kit @ Tweaknews

Published by Newsfactory 0

Boiling down my thoughts and impressions of Corsair's PC4400 ram is no easy chore. The good and the not so good points have placed me in the uncomfortable position of being torn between two different, yet equally important factors. For one, DDR550 memory bandwidth to say the least is amazing. Having the ability to overclock my favorite 2.4C processor to 3.3Ghz while using a 1:1 divider does definitely give your system the performance boost expected from such high end memory. Observed performance increases were very impressive and anyone with a capable system will love the increase in gaming framerates and performance. But this leads me to the operative word in that last sentence, "capable".

Black Lian Li 6077 Case Review

Published by [NT] 0

OCIA.net checks out a Black Lian Li 6077 Case with some extra accessories in their latest review. Below is a direct quote from the review:

"There are two things that I like about the PC6077 in regards to the rear of the case. First and foremost is that second 80mm fan. The space is there and Lian Li wisely put a second rear exhaust fan in their 6077 series. Lian Li also modified the fan holes in the rear. If you look closely at this rear shot you can see that the grill portion of the fan hole is slightly raised from being flush with the rear of the case."

Razer Boomer Speed 2100 Mouse

Published by Newsfactory 6

Just got word from our bro's over at the OverclockersClub that their Razer Boomer speed 2100 mouse review is out!

Razer is back! They have a new web site and a new product line with a rebirth of the Boomslang mouse. In April 2001 we took a look at the Razer BoomSlang 2000, a mouse that had no comparison at the time, and truthfully still doesn?t. That is of course, unless you happen to take a look at the latest creation from Razer, the BoomerSpeed.

SmartID WFS-1 Wireless Detector Reviewed @ GeekExtreme.com

Published by [NT] 0

Today, we review the SmartID WFS-1 Wireless Detector. With wireless hotspots popping up all over, it pays to know where they are, and how good of a signal you can get. GeekExtreme has just finished reviewing the WiFi Detector made by SmartID. Does it pass muster? Here's a snippet:   "A while back, I reviewed the Kensington WI FI detector, and while it was a neat little gadget, wasn't very suitable for finding hotspots outside of your home. Ideally, it was good for finding the best points of coverage in and around your home, and that's it. Smart ID has since sent me a WI FI Detector (WFS-1), and of course I've put it through its paces. Is this, like the Kensington, a geek toy? Or is it a useful tool? Read on . . ."

Vantec Cable Sleeving Kit Review

Published by [NT] 0

OCIA.net checks out the Vantec Cable Sleeving Kit in their latest review. Below is a direct quote from the review:

"The trick to getting this sleeving on is to work it in a push-pull motion. When you push the sleeving together, it widens so that the cables can easily slide through. Then when you pull the end tight again, the sleeving moves up the cable. For all of those that got lost there, I?ll just say that it works exactly like a Chinese Finger Trap. You push it together so that it becomes loose. Simple, eh?"

CoolerMaster CoolDrive 4 @ CoolTechZone

It is important for enthusiasts to monitor their system temperatures when tweaking their systems. If you are one of those people that like to tweak their system and have lots of fans for cooling, you know the daunting task of reducing noise level while still keeping the temperatures at minimum levels. That?s why most of us have fan controllers and system monitors. Some of us also like to cool their hard drives by putting fans around them. It?s too much load when you have to pay attention to so many factors in a PC.

Northwood Lives On Another Day : Intel?s Pentium 4 3.4 GHz

As the world waits with bated breath for Intel's upcoming "Prescott" series of Pentium 4 processors, set to launch next week, many have already considered Intel's current "Northwood" processor architecture all but retired. The Pentium 4 has been stalled at 3.2 GHz clock rate for the past six months, and Intel even moved to a different processor architecture, "Gallatin" for their high-end Extreme Edition processor. Surprisingly though, the Northwood processor core remains alive and kicking. Today we're looking at the fastest Intel processor has yet to release, and surprise, it's based on Northwood. GamesPC has more.

Intel's Prescott 3.2GHz compared to Northwood 3.2GHz

Published by [NT] 0

The Inquirer is famous for not signing NDA's with companies for getting the bechmark news first and so they mostly never hop the review BANDWAGON with numerous other sites as soon as the NDA curfew ends . But this time they have managed to post a sort-of comparison review between Prescott 3.2GHz and Northwood 3.2GHz. In their own words they say "AS WE WON'T SIGN NDAs (non disclosure agreements) and therefore Intel has not given us a Prescott Pentium 4 to test, we've found a way to get some scores before everyone else's NDAs expire on the 2nd of February next."
