Swiftech MCX462-V and MCX159-R Chipset Cooler Review

Published by Newsfactory 0

OCIA.net checks out the Swiftech MCX462-V and MCX159-R Chipset Cooler in their latest review! Here's a snip.

The installation of the heatsink was much easier than I expected. I would rate it as the easiest heatsink installation I have experienced with an Athlon. The two clips are independent of each other and not dependent on that leaf spring style clip that many of us have grown to detest. The clip is a 3 prong clip on each side, a definite quality move.

CoolerMaster Jet 4 HSF Review @ CoolTechZone

One of the key factors in achieving high overclocks is by adding a good heatsink. Many of us don’t have a budget to purchase a water-cooling system so we are stuck with air-cooling heatsinks. There are quite a few air based heatsinks in the market but which one to choose is a difficult question. As mentioned earlier, good heatsink will allow you to get good overclocking results, which will increase system performance.

Crucial PC3200 DDR400 Memory Review @ Tweaknews.net

Published by [NT] 1

Article Snippit:

"Crucial offers a fantastic product for mainstream users. Its memory is stable and reliable. It is not meant to overclock, yet I was still able to get a nice boost without damaging the modules. The temperatures remained warm (not hot) even without the use of heatspreaders."

Volari V8 Duo Review

Published by Newsfactory 0

Just got word that DriverHeaven's XGI Volari V8 Duo Graphics card review is out!

Another disturbing issue was the quality of image outputted through the card when compared to the screencaptures we took. On several occasions we attempted to capture bugs onscreen (e.g. DVD quality or Unreal Tournaments many issue) and the captured image was significantly improved over the realtime image. It also appears that as well as the quality of screenshots improving from the ingame image, the following few frames suffer performance reduction on the Volari as a result. Yet again a driver bug which helps skew reviews in favour of the Volari, hiding its true performance from the end user/review reader.

Western Digital Raptor Serial ATA Hard Drive

Published by Newsfactory 0

Just got word from my good mate Stuart ?Veridian3? Davidson over at DriverHeaven that their Western Digital Raptor Serial ATA 10000RPM Hard Drive Review is out!

SATA - the SCSI for mainstream. Its been hyped so much since its release that everyone was expecting it to be of comparable performance, unfortunately this hasn?t been the case with SATA drives having no performance increases over their PATA counterparts. Granted installation is easier and overall efficiency is slightly higher, but hardcore users don?t really care about that, "its all about the speed". It has been said in the coming years when the technology matures we can be looking forward to data transfer rates of 300mb/s-600mb/s. If this happens then there is a clear winner, but in the meantime Western digital have released several 10,000RPM sata drives, a 74gb version and a 36.7gb version, we will be looking at the latter today

Alienware Aurora Extreme Review

Published by Newsfactory 0

Geeknewz.com have thrown up their review of Alienware Aurora line of gaming PC's.

Alienware has always been at the top end of the market when it comes to gaming systems for the hardcore geeks that have no will of saving or value term money. It will no doubt cost you an arm, leg and your car. If you have a car, sell it first because you may not have money left for gas. So is it actually worth it, buying a pre-made computer with all the best parts?

Xenix Optical Wheel Mouse Review

Published by [NT] 0

OCIA.net checks out the Xenix Optical Wheel Mouse in their latest review. Below is a direct quote from the review:

" The aesthetic appeal of a black vented mouse with blue LEDs and fans really appeals to me. I'm not sure about the sweaty palms thing but if you have sweaty palms when on your PC, (Cyberperv Geeks Included) then this fan provides a dual benefit to you. You can have a cool looking mouse that keeps at least one of your hands dry."

MEMOREX MODZ GEAR : MODDING SUPPLIES MEETS MAINSTREAM @ Tweaknews.net

Published by [NT] 1

Article Snippit:

"I am really happy to see a mainstream producer jumping into the modding pool of computing. What this means is modding supplies with be more readily available seeing Memorex already has a very strong distribution network. Prices on Memorex's gear are also bound to be better priced than the competition with their ability to buy large quantities at a lower cost. All that is needed is a product line expansion and I can see a very successful future for Memorex's modding introduction."

AMD's Athlon 64 3000+ Processor @ TechReport

Published by Newsfactory 0

WE LOVE TO COVER the release of hot new processors that run at seventy jazillion megahertz and cost more than a Florida vacation, but everybody knows the real action is down in the middle of the product line, in the sweet spot. No, we're not talking about some semi-veiled reference in a Britney Spears song. We're talking about the point where the supply and demand lines converge at optimum performance, the place where good deals are born and tech know-how can overcome the constraints of a limited budget.

Philips Aurilium External USB 5.1 Surround Sound Center Review @ Tweaknews.net

Published by [NT] 0

Article Snippit:

"With OEM prepackaged computers still making up the majority of today's computer market sales, we still see two channel setups holding their ground as the most popular soundcard specification in the everyday home computer. Now say you purchased an everyday computer with onboard or PCI card sound solution and after 6 months or a year you wanted to experience the fidelity of full 5.1 surround sound, what would be your options?
1.) You could purchase a surround sound PCI card and void your computer's warranty by installing the card yourself.
2.) You could have the computer manufacturer install the soundcard at a high installation fee and upgrade cost.
3.) You can find an audio solution that is relatively cheap, effective and won't involve you touching your computer other than one small connection.

If you are interested in option #3, Philips now has an external USB 2.0 compliant 5.1 sound center that can have you enjoying surround sound with a quick insertion of a USB cable."
