XClio Stable Power 460 Watt Power Supply Review

During my battery of tests, Xclio's Stablepower 460W PSU lived up to its name. They could also legitimately call it the "Silentpower," as it performed its duties without a whisper of noise. This PSU is available at several online retailers for around $60 US, making it a very good value. TweakNews

XFX GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB DDR3 XXX Edition

Published by [NT] 0

NVIDIA's GeForce 8800 GTX is currently the king of the graphics card hill, and rightly so in our opinion.
There's fast and there's faster. Then there's XXX. What we're referring to with that arcane sentence is XFX's SKU policy. Reference, it says, just isn't fast enough to comfortably fit into the company's 'play hard' ethos.
On top of its regular GTX, XFX has now launched a couple of GeForce 8800 GTX SKUs that are pre-overclocked right out of the box. We've managed to get our grubby mitts on the fastest - a 630/2000-clocked version. Read on to find out if it's £460 well spent.

In Win F430 Xtreme Series ATX Computer Case Review

Published by [NT] 0

You've got to hand it to In Win. It takes a lot of guts to design and market a computer chassis with such close association to an automotive legend like the Ferarri F430. With their F430 case, though, In Win seems to have pulled it off rather well. The immaculate finish, innovative design elements, single-fan cooling, and racecar sounds all contribute to make the F430 a high-performance and stylish case with that little something extra that sets it apart from the crowd. Overclocking Core 2 Motherboards

Published by [NT] 0

When it comes to selecting a motherboard, you've got a bunch of factors to consider: Form factor, features, stability, performance, and price are a few that jump to mind. Some of us, however, look at one more little checkmark on the outside of the box: overclocking prowess. Faced with five motherboards to review, including Nvidia 680i- and Intel 975-based boards, we decided to take a slightly different approach, to veer off from our normal modus operandi. While we still performance test all of the boards (except one, because it arrived dead), we look at how well they overclock a CPU. Not just any CPU, mind you; we chose one that presents a true challenge. Read on at ExtremeTech

Firefox 2.0: happier browsing, but secure?

Published by [NT] 0

It's long past time to bother telling anyone how much better than IE Firefox is. Faster, smaller, more responsive, with tabbed browsing and useful extensions galore. It's also lot more secure than IE, partly because it's open source, and particularly because it's not integrated with the underlying OS.
Firefox's security bugs involve the browser only, and can be fixed quickly and without much fuss. On the other hand, because of its integration with the OS, IE's bugs can involve the system overall, and may need weeks or months to sort out. Read the whole review at TheReg

The GeForce 8800 in SLI

Published by [NT] 0

WHEN WE REVIEWED the GeForce 8800, I said we'd test the GPU in an SLI configuration "as soon as we can." I will admit that I've dabbled in CPUs a little too much, and our look at GeForce 8800 SLI has been delayed. However, I also wondered in that same review: "who needs two of these things right now?" That's a pretty good question given the GeForce 8800 GTX's astounding pixel-slinging performance, and something of a de-motivator for one considering looking into GeForce 8800 SLI. TechReport

Spire VertiCool 3 Heatpipe CPU Cooler Review @ Tweaknews.net

Published by [NT] 0

Spire has done a great job with the VertiCool III in regards to its cooling ability. It holds up well against some pretty good competition while bringing a bit of its own individuality to the table. The addition of a fan speed control device will allow the user to dial in just the right noise-to-performance ratio for their particular hardware and environment. It doesn't have any fancy lighting or other visual enhancements, just great performance. TweakNews

Cyber Snipa Spotter USB Webcam Review @ Tweaknews.net

Published by [NT] 0

While not the most compact webcam available, the Cyber Snipa Spotter takes pretty nice photos and video and is a good value for anyone who frequently uses Skype, Netmeeting, or any other application that warrants using a webcam. Like other Cyber Snipa products this is not a typical looking PC peripheral but to me that's a plus. TweakNews
