OCZ EL DDR PC-4000 1024MB Gold Edition Dual Channel (2GB) Review at 3DXtreme

Published by Newsfactory 0

OCZ has delivered another kickass product and while some of the testing showed that 4x UTT using 2-2-2-5 with 2T settings was a faster alternative when running 2GB, when using TCCD we were limited in our overclocking even when both kits can do 300+ on their own. Also, not all motherboards will provide the 3.1 volts UTT needed to run these speeds. Obviously, popping in two 1GB sticks of memory will be the preferred way of running 2GB of memory however, if you already have an existing gig of memory and are looking to add more moving to this type of kit may not be the most cost effective option.

Transcend PC2-4200 Overclocking Madness

Published by Newsfactory 0

Once again the Madshrimps test the limits of Transcend DDR2 533, this time in 1024MB (x2) module size. If you recall, overclocking DDR SDRAM resulted in higher frequencies when smaller 256MB modules were used. Fortunately DDR2 doesn´t seem to be bootstrapped in the same manner. Transcend memory has been keeping pace in performance with some of the more costly modules out there and for much less money. Their current DDR2-533MHz modules are based on Elipida E5108AE-5C-E IC´s and they´ve simply been spectacular.

Steel Sound 5H Headset Review

Published by Newsfactory 0

OCIA.net takes a look at the Steelpad Steel Sound 5H Headset in their latest review.

I mentioned back on page 1 that I will be comparing this headset against my cheap-o $20 Koss headphones. Sure, it's probably not a fair comparison as the two are in different price ranges, but they are the only headphones that I own, so, yeah... end of comparison. The Steel Sound 5H simply blows the Koss headphones away, plain and simple.

AOpen 6600GT Graphics Card Review

Published by Newsfactory 0

We?ve already introduced the 6600GT previously, so for now, we?ll skip the introduction and get straight to the actual product. Although it?s a minor thing in the grand scheme of features, the black PCB color and orange copper actually make this card attractive than standard versions we see from manufacturers these days. The heatsink and fan combination are a needed accessory to dissipate heat off of the modern GPUs.

Hiper Calvier Aluminum Keyboard Review

Published by Newsfactory 0

OCIA.net takes a look at the Hiper Clavier Aluminum Keyboard in their latest review.

Moving to the right side of the board -- this is where it is similar to a notebook keyboard. The Home, End, Insert, Print Screen, Pause/Break, Scroll Lock, Page Up (just to the left of Page Down, cut off in the picture), and Page Down, are all relocated very much like a notebook keyboard. Notice to better utilize the space, the Zero key in the numpad is only half the normal width, and the numpad moved closer, keeping the arrow keys in a standard layout (great for those using the arrow keys for movement and strafing in FPS games).

Creative X-Fi Fatality FPS is a funky piece of kit

Published by Newsfactory 0

I was lucky enough to obtain a Creative Labs X-Fi Fatality FPS sound card at the 2005 Quakecon. Curious about it I wanted to know whether or not CPU utilisation is reduced or whether the marketing claim about 10,000+ MIPS was anything but hype.

OCZ Platinum EL PC-4800 Elite Dual Channel DDR Kit Review

Published by Newsfactory 0

OCIA.net takes a look at the OCZ Platinum EL PC-4800 Elite Dual Channel DDR Kit in their latest review.

To test the limits of each kit, I first lowered the multiplier from 9 to 8, which will prevent the processor from maxing out and let us fully test the modules. I set the HT multiplier to 3x, and used the rated timings of 2.5-4-4-10 2T. To verify stability, I ran each setting for over an hour in Memtest86 (4 full passes). If the settings used passed this test, I then proceeded to run Prime95 to check stability in Windows. If a particular setting failed in Memtest86, I would reboot and bump up the memory voltage in .1 increments in hopes of attaining stability.

Thermaltake BigWater Computer Water Cooling System Review @ Tweaknews.net

Published by Newsfactory 0

Thermaltake has done a great job of designing a kit that brings the user everything needed for a system that cools well, and is oh-so-quiet. The BigWater kit brings the bling, as well. A clear block cap complete with a blue LED, UV hoses and coolant, lighted reservoir and stainless steel fittings all combine to make the kit very visually appealing. Quality of materials is excellent and installation was a breeze, despite a poorly written and executed manual.

Thermaltake Golden Orb II Review

Aside from the printed insert, the package contains only a small accessory box and the heatsink itself. The first thing you will notice when picking it up is the mass. At 752 g's the Gorb-II is definitely no featherweight.

Hiper Type-R 480w & 580w Power Supplies Review

Published by Newsfactory 0

OCIA.net takes a look at the Hiper Type-R 480w & 580w Power Supplies in their latest review.

Four of these piggyback style extension cables are included. Hiper has taken modular PSU's one step farther as far as keeping a tidy case. I rather like this idea, more truth to the common phrase "only hook up the connections you'll use.
