Robert Duffy, id Software programmer, updated his .plan with word that a new Quake III Arena point release is in the works: Just a quick note on future releases for Quake 3 Arena. We will be releasing a new point release in the relatively near future which includes a handful of fixes and updates and also includes full Punk Buster integration to combat cheating. No firm date on when this will be out but it should not be too far off.
Big Thanks to Atul Fatpie for noticing this @ Fileplanet.com:
CliffyB and Allen from Epic show off their latest work, UT2003. They show off a ton of maps, game types, and UnrealED. Sorry for camera work, I didn't have a place to mount the camera and my arm got tired. The wmv file is a direct copy off my camera, so I did NO editing, you'll hear comments from Trapoon, HYDRO and alkali.
In the history of gaming, there was only one game that fit the requirements of being an rpg, action, adventure, hilarious, and entertaining game, Giants. For a quick sample of what Giants is, here is a screenshot:
Under Ash is a first person shooting game that puts you in the battle in the middle east... as a Palestinian. The game makers say there are no civilian targets in this game that the player can only fight the Isreali Defense Forces. I guess I was shocked in a way but I really can't be when my own country has our own first person shooter. What do you all think of these games that mimic life a little too much?
Bethesda Softworks has released a new patch for The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, upgrading their free-form 3D role-playing game to version 1.2.0722. This release includes save game improvements, over two dozen bug fixes, and over a dozen quest fixes.
Got great news from HQ: the Marksmanship Pack is nearly complete, troops! Even better, the Marksmanship Pack is packed with much, much more than just the single-player U.S. Army Sniper School missions. Responding to the feedback from our community, we've decided to add a number of additional features in this release, to include the following: tools that kick AFK players; TeamTalk options (allowing you to radio all your live and --er-- 'retired' team members); ...
The Unreal site Unreality comes up with the news that the German Infogrames site made a Unreal Tournament 2003 trailer available on their site. The trailer shows us some in-game action. Unfortunatly the original is in small stamp sizes, however, IGN has a QuickTime version that looks way better.
Infogrames Germany posted the official trailer for UT2003. Too bad it's in a kinda crap resolution, but we get to see a bunch of new maps + there's a lot of asskicking going on, so it is certainly worth the download. (and it is only 1.5mb)
Eidos Germany has made a drastic decision to prevent their games from being copied. Starting 2003, the company will only release it's games on DVD's. This will cost them more, but they hope to recover that by selling more games, since "they can't be copied"... Personally, I think it'll just cost them more, unless they are going to ban DVD-writers.
Bioware has released a new patch v1.21 for their award winning role playing game Neverwinter Nights. As usual it is recommended to update via the game auto-updater which reduces the download size. A manual patch is available here. Read more for the changelog. Please note that there is also an update to the auto-updater (v1.08).

It's a good time to be James Bond. It's the suave superspy's 40th movie anniversary this year, and this winter's upcoming release of Die Another Day will be the 20th film that's featured the debonair MI6 secret agent. Electronic Arts and MGM are commemorating this momentous occasion by releasing a quartet of 007 games later this year, one for every major platform. And while Bond is no stranger to consoles--developers have been constantly trying to match the level of commercial and critical success received by Rare's GoldenEye 007 for the Nintendo 64--EA's James Bond 007: NightFire will mark Bond's first appearance on the PC.
The moment we have all waited for as finally come. EALA has launched their first announcement about Medal of Honor: Allied Assault Expansion Pack with 20 new British and Russian weapons.
Players will assume the role of a new character, Sgt. Jack Barns, who's an OSS operative sent into Normandy with the 101st Airborne on the night before the D-Day invasion. The game will start with Barns parachuting from the back of a C-47 under the cover of darkness.
All UT server admins are encouraged to install this replacement IpDrv.dll.
This fix causes the UT server to correctly process ICMP port unreachable messages, and disconnect any connection it receives one for. This solves the Windows 2000 creeping ping problem and the denial of service attack mentioned in this article. Users not running UT servers do not need to apply this patch.
