Hyprland 0.57.1 Releases Stability Patch Fixing NVIDIA Black Screens and Keybindings

Published by

Hyprland 0.57.1 was released as a stability patch addressing several issues from the previous version, including fixes for NVIDIA black screens, keybinding problems, and session-lock errors. This update follows the significant 0.57.0 release, which introduced notable features such as wobbly windows and a scene-composition renderer refactor, but also brought some regressions. The maintainer, Vaxry, has been able to focus on Hyprland full-time due to a new funding arrangement with the Omacom Foundation, which supports open-source projects by providing direct funding to individual maintainers. Users still on the older .conf configuration must manually migrate to the new format, as support for it was entirely dropped in version 0.57.0

Hyprland maintainer Vaxry released v0.57.1 today, a small maintenance patch that backports a dozen fixes from main onto the 0.57.0 feature drop. The update targets NVIDIA black screens, keybinding and chord-resolution issues, session-lock errors when a monitor is unplugged, and display-handling bugs like an incorrect max_bpc value. It lands just five days after 0.57.0, the project's largest release yet, which introduced Compiz-inspired wobbly windows, swappable blur variants, and a foundational scene-composition renderer refactor. Anyone already on 0.57.0 should grab the update now, though legacy .conf users must still migrate manually to hyprland.lua.
