Fedora Linux 45 RC-1.2 Now Available for Testing

Published by

Fedora Linux has released its second release candidate, RC-1.2, for version 45, aimed at passing validation by October 22 to meet the revised ship date of October 27. This candidate features significant improvements such as an overhaul of the kmscon console, updates to GNOME 51 and KDE Plasma 6.7, a new kernel version 7.2, and enhanced security with mandatory RPM signature enforcement. Testing is currently showing positive results, with only a few image-size threshold flags and pending Security Lab results causing delays in the release process. If the candidate passes the upcoming Go/No-Go meeting without any blocker bugs, Fedora 45 will officially launch; otherwise, the fallback date is set for November 3

The second release candidate for Fedora Linux 45 has been released for testing today as make-or-break media after the project hit a NO-GO on October 15. The candidate must pass release-validation with no blocker bugs at Thursday's Go/No-Go if Fedora 45 is to hit its October 27 ship date. Highlights include the kmscon console overhaul, GNOME 51, KDE Plasma 6.7, kernel 7.2, fully reproducible builds, and default RPM signature enforcement. Testing is mostly green so far, with only image-size threshold flags and pending Security Lab results holding things up.
