there's something I don't get : winxp already has DX8.1! so why does it say it's for xp too? is it different?

xp has version 8.1 (.810) the version on this DX release is .881 i downloaded the 25mb redist version clicked install and nothing happend so i dunno maybe its not for xp

While it downloads as an executable, it is a zip file. It will unzip its components to a folder called Redist located under your Settings and Documents(Your Name)Local SettingsTempRedistDirectX81. Double click on the DxSetup.exe and it will install those component based upon your OS

It is also for XP ... i checked the files with dxdiag and some (3 or 4 only) of them are definitely replaced by newer versions.
