This is one thing I don't want to beta.

why doesn't GM get their shit together and make a "high quality" car that gets good gas mileage instead of goofing around with this kind of crap? GM's idea of a car that gets good gas mileage is "Make it small and make it cheap as possible" And you wonder why now everyone is steering toward Euro and Asian made cars, again?

I have to agree. We need to make a huge push toward hydrogen/electric cars and start phasing out gas powered. imo.

So no more Road Rage ... Here comes "Self-driving" Rage, haha.

The American auto firms have "never"been to make a low-defects, mechanically reliable (a.k.a. high quality) and fuel efficient vehicle. (Comparing to Euro and Asian design and such) And before you know it, the auto workers are gonna be on work stoppage/labour protest, again. Sucks?

I actually used to make parts for GM Motors for an outside contractor. GM puts a lot of quality in their giant gaz guzzlers like the Cadillac and Buicks, heck I own a LeSabre, sweet car. But if you want a small fuel efficient vehicle GM is the last place to look. To GM, fuel efficient means roll up windows and AM radios, and forget about air conditioning!. They know how to, its just that they don't want to. They are the epiteme of what is wrong in the automotive world these days. They think they can sustain because of a large customer base, problem is that base is dying off as they generation is beyond retirement age these days. They have a good car in the Adam Opel, but they refuse to sell them in the states. To many people were buying them in the 70's so they pulled the plug. Bastards.

Am I surprised Buick is #2? Nope, like I said, I own a LeSabre, probably the best vehicle I've ever owned. Don't forget, I did say I used to make engine parts for GM for an outside contractor. I've even been inside Buick City in Flint on a job before. My statements are made from a historic standpoint. GM made the Chevette, Cavalier and a few others in the last oil crunch back in the 70's-80's that were miserable. Funny enough, my LeSabre actually gets better mileage than my Chevette did back then. I look forward to seeing the newer Saturns, if they materialize. I guess my largest poing is that GM needs to not just make a high mileage car (+30mpg) but they need to make it in a quality fashion. The Cavalier was a bucket of shit right out of the factory, and the current Malibu is just plain butt ugly.
