Someone commented in the NforceHQ forum that Nvidia requested that StationDrivers remove these particular drivers beacuse of a temp bug. I don't know if that means that temps are actually running hotter; but it might be wise to err on the side of caustion.

I don't think it could be a change to the fan speed. I can adjust my GPU fan speed fom 0 to 100% using speedfan and it really only makes a few degrees difference in temp and a bit of response time. In 2D mode normally the fan might as well be off. More plausible explanation is that the GPU is clocked a lot higher in 2D mode with some drivers unless you lock it to a set speed by manually overclocking. This is a definate temperature increase that has a knock on affect to the ambient temp inside the case which I have monitored. Seems like a silly bug and I'm sticking to the 67.02 for the sake a 1-2 FPS.

Like I said, I just got into playing with nVidia hardware again after a bit of a hiatus....what ambient temp bug? I'm using the 75.90 set and idling at about 61C which seems a tad insanely high to me after my X800, but it's in the green zone... :?

Ran a Quake3 timedemo. Works fine for me...
