I dont know all manufactures but Asus does support SATA in combination with IDE.In my opionion IDE will not die in the next time because all CD-ROMS / DVD and others only support IDE and not SATA so IDE is needed.Btw today i investigated for a SATA disk for a customers, will be not deliverable before the 2nd half of 2003 0 0
