I think you're wrong, I think we're going to see prices drop and drop pretty fast. ATi will be first out and the only next gen for a while and will probably charge premo prices, but will drop 'em once nVidia cards are finally available (IN JULY! ;) ). Then nVidia will unveil that it's coming out with an Ultra Premo which will knock their Ultra prices back, ATi will match with it's XT Premo which will knock XT prices back a bit, and I'm hoping that a good old fashioned "gas war" price battle commences. 8)

Technically I can confirm that the July date is a rumor, but only since I started it the day the nV40 "premiered" and I've been pushing it like a bad dog since. Then again, I got my reasons for picking July...I didn't just make it up. ;) If the 6800 is available in May, it's going to be "available" the same way the nV30 initially was...there will be about a hundred of them for sale all over the world! July, it's still looking right for the 6800.
