3rd Party Fix For WindowsXP Workstation Service Problem!

I've created a fix for a nasty bug in WinXP which seems to affect Abit KT7A users. Symptoms are the computer sitting there during bootup doing nothing for 40-80 seconds, and you can't do anything. Update: Apparently there was a bug in that fix. Users need to redownload cause 3 services need to be stopped for this fix to work.

DirectX 8 Performance Tweak!

Ah this is interesting. I noticed a forum post over @ the marvelous MadOnion Forums stating that there is still some performance to gain by using the DX8 control panel which you can download here.
Apparently DX8 was shipped by good old M$ with the "Debug" left on. This is a huge mistake and will cause unusual CPU access and lower performance significantly. This is what you have to do: Extract to Windows/System then go to Control Panel click on the DX applet go to the Direct Sound tab and slide the debug slider all the way to the left! This should give you some performance gain during playing games that use Direct Sound. Try it and post your experiences in our forums!
