Silentmaxx Semi-Fanless | Thermaltake Pure Power

The Guru of Low-Noise has written 2 new reviews for your reading pleasure.
Thermaltake Pure Power 350 Watt fanless While the market for passive cpu coolers just develops slowly, there are more and more fanless power supplies. This area is booming. Two years ago there were only two fanless power supplies available. Today we test our 10th fanless power supply! The manufacturers don?t mind the development and the work needed for new versions. Different ideas can be found for the cooling system of the power supply. The user is glad about a bigger variety and the competition between the different brands freshens the market. Although Thermaltake used to offer products for modding and style of the computer, now they took the step and offer innovations and high end products, too. CoolerMaster Praetorian Case Review

Published by Newsfactory 0

OCIA.net has posted a review of the CoolerMaster Praetorian Case! Here's a snip.

The first thing that caught my eye here was the rear 80mm fan; particularly the fan grill, or better yet, lack thereof. I am a big fan of free-flowing air (no Pun intended), and CoolerMaster's choice to not include a rear fan grill on the frame of the case was definitely a good one. Instead, the case fan grill is a simple wire grill, which can be removed should you be inclined to do so. Also, notice that the power supply bracket is removable. This bracket attaches directly to your power supply, which is then slid into the case from the backside and fits nicely into its own "holding station".

Thermalright XP-120 HSF

Published by Newsfactory 0

MHW looks at the new mostly aluminum XP-120 HSF which is slotted for a nice big 120mm fan.

"As mentioned earlier the XP-120 offers cross platform compatibility, but because of its enormous size that compatibility is somewhat limited. My personal suggestion here would be to make sure your motherboard is on either the AMD or Intel approved list before you buy one. If you don't see your board on the list it can't hurt to drop Thermalright a line and ask."

CoolJag JVC682A Heatsink Review

Published by Newsfactory 0

OCIA.net has posted a review of the CoolJag JVC682A Heatsink! Here's a snip.

The fins on the JVC682A are slightly taller than that of the OEM cooler, but not quite as consistent in spacing. Of course, this has a lot to do with the JVC682A being manufactured with a skiving technique, and the OEM fins being affixed to the base separately. Skiving ensures the best possible conduction of heat.

BioSlimDisk Review

3DVelocity have reviewed the BioSlimDisk, a USB Flash drive with built in Biometric fingerprint security to keep your data safe. Let's just hope Biometrics doesn't kick-start a lucrative black market trade in detached fingers and eyeballs!

Quote if Required: " USB keys also started to include new features, some would have a built-in radio or mp3 players and some even have a voice recorder built-in. The keys would have different properties such as: size, transfer speeds, shapes and features.
The BioSlimDisk differentiates itself from the competition in that it has a built-in security feature. It uses fingerprint recognition techniques to secure the data stored on the key. This method of securing the device is called Biometric security and is based on Biometric technology. "

925X Motherboard Head 2 Head

TrustedReviews has compared the ABIT AA8-DuraMAX and the Gigabyte GA-8NXP-D. Which one came out on top?

Although it?s been some time since Intel launched its new PCI Express chipsets, the flow of retail motherboards has been a bit slow, partly due to some production issues and partly due to a lack of peripherals. Both of these issues have now been addressed and we?re seeing more and more PCI Express graphics cards and DDR2 memory modules making their way into the retail channel.

Thermalright SP-94 Heatsink Review

Published by Newsfactory 0

OCIA.net has posted a review of the Thermalright SP-94 Heatsink.

Now we move on to the installation. As noted previously, the installation for the SP-94 is a little more involved than the SLK-947U. To install the SP-94, you must first remove the P4 retention bracket that most traditional P4 heatsinks use. With only a 20g increase in weight from the SLK-947U, I was really surprised it would require such a robust mounting system.

Corsair TwinX1024-3200XLPro X-Treme Low latency Memory Kit

Published by Newsfactory 0

The Crucible has just posted a review of Corsair's XL Low latency memory. They really pump the juice into this stuff and end up with a whopper of an overclock. This stuff looks really fine.

A quote from the review "This memory performed extremely well in our overclocking testing. Since the ICs are rated at 250MHz with 3-3-3-8 timings it is not surprising. Hitting over DDR550 though is. Adding voltage at this point didn't better our max speed. In both cases (AMD64 and P4) our maximum stable overclock with the default 2-2-2-5 timings was 217MHz or PC3500 speeds."

Many of us get excited about the X800 and Geforce 6800, but the majority of consumers simply will not swallow the high price tag that comes with it. Sadly, it is getting increasingly difficult for those of you looking for a more budget conscious card to find the card which suits you best.
