XGI Volari Duo V8 Ultra 256MB

Published by Newsfactory 2

Hexus.net have thrown up their review of XGI Volari Duo V8 Ultra 256MB video card!

Technologically-speaking, the Volari Duo V8 is an up-to-date design. Each chip contains 8 rendering pipelines that make it into a 16-pipe design. That's GeForce6 and Radeon X800 XT country, folks. Add in the 350MHz clock speed and you have a potential fillrate of 5.6GPixels/s. Compare that with the Radeon 9800 XT's 3.296GTexel/s. 2 chips dictate a dual 128bit memory controller. To that end, XGI uses 900MHz-rated DDRII modules. Another quick calculation reveals potential bandwidth of 28.8GB/s. Potential is the key word in the last two sentences. Hitting the maximum limit is difficult for a first-time design.

Corsair TwinX1024-4000Pro 1GB 512x2 Matched Memory Pair

Published by Newsfactory 0

The Crucible examines Corsair's latest goodies. TwinX Pro PC4000 memory. Not only is the ram rated at 500MHz but Corsair includes cool "LED activity lights" so you can see what is going on.

The TwinX1024-4000Pro kit performed admirably. We would have liked to see a little higher stable over clock, but they operated as promised, and a little more to boot. Corsair has done a fine job. The activity LEDs will appeal to those looking for something a little different than the norm. At first we didn't find them overly useful, but after using the system for a week or so they become very interesting. Especially when gaming.

Raidmax Cobra 822 Case @ OCIA.net

Published by Newsfactory 0

OCIA.net checks out the Raidmax Cobra 822 Case in their latest review! Here's a snip.

On the inside of the side panel, Raidmax has included a self-branded clear LED case fan. The model I received contained red and orange LED?s. I am pretty sure this is the same for all of the color choices available in the Cobra 822. It would have been nice to have a blue or a blue/red LED fan included here, especially given that the rest of the lighting on the case is blue/red as we will see later.

Asus AX800 Pro Review

Published by Newsfactory 0

The rumour has it that the ATI X800Pro and X800 XT are the same GPUs and it is possible to enable the 4 pixel shader pipelines locked in X800Pro. There are bridges on the X800Pro GPU just like AMD AthlonXP series processors. It is claimed that the upper-left bridges could be connected to have an X800Pro X800 XT, meaning the number of 12 pixel shader pipelines can be increased to 16. These bridges, though truly exist, there is only one person who claims to have tried and succeeded.

Zalman Reserator 1 @ DriverHeaven

Published by Newsfactory 0

I?m sure most of you have heard of Zalman and some of the wacky and wonderful coolers they have brought to the market in the last several years - their emphasis on good cooling with as low a noise level as possible. They have introduced CNPS (Computer Noise Prevention System) which encompasses a whole range of products. Today I?m taking a look at their fanless watercooling system - "The reserator". Before we go any further let?s dispel the rumours, this isn?t "passive" as there is a pump that circulates the water through the system.

Reserator" is a compound word derived from 'Reservoir' and 'Radiator' - it acts as a reservoir while radiating heat. This product works well with natural convection and integrates a water pump inside for convenience.

"Well, I went in slightly skeptical, not wanting to be disappointed, and I was blown away. This case is fantastic. I've left it running for hours, checking on it periodically to see what the temperature inside the case is, and it always remained cool. Even the acrylic felt cool to the touch. This design is superb."

Epox EP-4PDA5+ i865PE Springdale Motherboard Review @ Tweaknews.net

Article Snippit:

"Today I will be reviewing Epox's latest edition to their i865PE (Springdale) based motherboards. The EP-4PDA5+ is not your everyday Springdale motherboard. Although it is not targeted towards the enthusiast market, you will see in the upcoming pages that if you didn't know what chipset this motherboard was powered by, you would swear it was a Canterwood.

Aside from performance, this motherboard is no slouch in the feature department either. With an extremely overclocker friendly BIOS, 7.1 channel onboard sound, Gigabit LAN, four SATA drive capability and Prescott support, it's hard to believe that the MSRP is only weighing in at a measly US$110. Is this the fast and cheap motherboard the cash strapped masses have been waiting for?
