Today 3DXtreme has the great pleasure of reviewing two mainstream video cards based on the nVidia 6600GT chip. Our samples are provided by eVGA and Chaintech, two of the industry leaders among video card and hardware manufacturers. With the emergence of high end video cards from nVidia and ATI, such as the 6800 and X800 series, the mainstream has largely been forgotten. In the past year, we have seen lots of memory rated at DDR500, so you may wonder why we are reviewing a new DDR500 memory today when there are now a few rare modules rated as high as DDR600. The answer is pretty simple, since OCZ PC4000 VX Gold is the only memory that we have ever seen rated at DDR500 2-2-2. While it is rated at DDR500 at these extraordinary 2-2-2 timings, it also carries a very high rated voltage of 3.3V - far beyond what most motherboards can supply.

Well, the answer is that this particular model claims it can tackle all three shortcomings head on and succeed! Intel is back in the spotlight with an evolution of the Prescott core. Three main innovations have been introduced compared to the Pentium 4 5xxJ, which was released last November. The cache L2 has been increased from 1 MB to 2 MB and it supports Enhanced Intel SpeedStep (EIST) and Enhanced Memory 64 (EM64T) technologies. Behardware.com has tested the Pentium 4 660 and EE 3.73 GHz processors to see if this new series will be good enough to compete with AMD?s products.

Speeze has been in the cooling products game for a number of years. With this sort of pedigree we were really excited when we received this cooler. First of all, i just wanted to point out that Speeze has some of the coolest names for Heatsink/Fans (HSF) i have ever seen. This model is designed for the Intel Pentium 4 and it is called the Coppersnake III. Gone are the days of product numbers. Now, even our HSF have names!
