The Y-Project Preview

Published by Newsfactory 0

The peeps over @ PC.IGN.com have posted a Preview for Westka Interactive's upcoming Unreal engine powered - first person shooter/RPG!

As the game is built on the Unreal Warfare engine, we were privy to seeing full rag doll effects in the demo, with bodies contorting and limbs flailing as they crumpled to the ground. This was especially impressive with insectoids as you had more limbs flying around than you could shake a fly swatter at. In addition to the rag doll effects on the characters and creatures, there will be realistic physics on the objects in the game as well. We shot a few canisters and moved them around the cavernous environments just to test out the physics.

UT2003 Demo Patch Coming Today?

Published by [PM] 0

Epic Games' Mark Rein and Tim Sweeney both gave away information of a patch supposedly to be released today. Mark Rein posted in the official forums about broken Voodoo 3 and 5 support due to a last minute programming mistake. The patch also is said to address other bugs that were encountered since the release of the demo. Tim Sweeney posted on the official Unreal Technology page that the patch will be released today: We'll be releasing a small patch tomorrow. This will fix a number of reported bugs, and also serve as the first public test of UT2003's new auto-update feature. There was a bug in the server browser that caused it to crash frequently under heavy load. This wasn't triggered until thousands of servers came online. We found a master server-side fix for this so the problem should be gone now. Sorry for the inconvenience!
