1) What build version of UT2003 was being displayed at E3?

The latest one compiled just before E3. This was the first build I saw with a working Ion Cannon which is a ton of fun to use! What we showed on the show floor is essentially what we think the demo will be which consists of two DM maps (Antalus and Curse3), one Double Domination map (Suntemple), one CTF map (Chrome) and one Bombing Run map (Endagra). But, be warned, this could change. I don't believe there are any plans for a single player campaign for the demo.

The Army will distribute the games for free in response to requests at www.americasarmy.com and www.goarmy.com, through distribution partners that include leading computer game magazines, at Army events and recruiting stations and through Internet download. The game is rated 'T' for teen by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board.

If anyone remembers the story Nvidia Releases Free Sidrial Quake III MOD then this is good news for all fans. The team behind this mod seems to have updated their mod back in April 2002 to Sidrial TC 1.1 with the winning levels of the Sidrial map building contest. The mod was first released by Nvidia back in January 2002. Here's a screenshot from the mod. I know it's a bit late but hey this mod is cool and you can't beat FREE.

Here's a new DOOM III gameplay movie that was taken inside the preview booth at E3 by Fragland. The video is rather shaky and occasionally out of focus , but image and sound quality are decent, and the ten minute DivX clip (46.1 MB) offers a fair insight into the gameplay, environment, weapons and monsters that were demonstrated at the show by id Software.

Raven Software has released the multiplayer SDK for Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix, offering prospective mod authors everything needed to start creating modifications for this new mercenary FPS. The SDK includes editors and tools, game code, documentation and a few samples, and some of the content also applies to single-player modding.

Tiscali Games have snaged screenshots and an interview with Massive Entertainment about the follow-up to AquaNox: AquaNox: Revelation

AquaNox: Revelation is a new story of the underwater world Aqua. In 2666 a young freighter pilot called William Drake sets out to search for the heritage of a mythical ancestor. He is looking for adventure - and finds greed, ruthlessness, merciless hatred ? and also unexpected help. But very soon he has to realize that he is not the only one hunting for his ancestor's legendary treasure.

It was announced at E3 yesterday that Grand Theft Auto 4 is in development for Playstation 2 and currently has a projected release date of mid-October. Many stores are already beginning to take pre-orders.

Also announced was the exclusivity of the entire series to Sony Computer Entertainment of America (SCEA) until October 2004.

This means no GTA for the XBOX! Hey Bill - time to buy Sony!

The official Generals site went live just a few minutes ago. The site is flash-based, contains some nice music, looks great and contains the following sections: "Features", "US", "China", "GLA" and "Images". It will take a few minutes to load on 56k modem. Gamesdomain.co.uk have posted a preview of Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance with sceenshots from E3!

The game is currently under development at Konami Computer Entertainment Japan under the guidance of series creator, Hideo Kojima and if the screenshots are anything to go by, good old Solid Snake is up for an extreme time of it!

Just got word from ATUL Fatpie that FilePlanet has a new demo of Soldier of Fortune II available for download.

This single player demo from Raven's realistic first person shooter lets you play two levels (Columbian Jungle and Seaward Star) as mercenary-for-hire, John Mullins.

Here's two new movies from E3 2002 that I spotted @ 3DGamers.com

IGI 2: Covert Strike: The E3 movie trailer of IGI 2: Covert Strike is now available, showing off the stealthy first-person shooter in the works at Innerloop Studios. The movie runs for a bit over a minute introducing the game's premise and sporting some gameplay action.

Rainbow Six: Raven Shield: Ubi Soft has released the E3 movie trailer of Rainbow Six: Raven Shield, showing off this squad-based tactical shooter sequel in development. The movie sports some three minutes of action-packed, in-engine cinematic footage showing a complete mission.
