We've all seen the images and videos from the GeForce 6800 launch, where Far Cry was shown off with some fancy new effects. Well, one of those effects was offset mapping, and the good news is that it is available in the current version of Far Cry!

3D Gamers reports that in a blast from the past, a playable demo of Grand Prix Legends 2004 is now available, courtesy of Blackhole Motorsports. GPL 2004 is a community project to bring the venerable Grand Prix 1967 racing simulation released by Papyrus in 1998 into the new millennium, and while this demo contains the same Watkins Glen track as before, it has been upgraded with the official patches, modern graphics, car models and other modifications.

Raven Software is looking for a Technical Artist for the Quake 4 PC title. We prefer a person with a strong understanding of the technical side of creating art assets, such as creating textures and world models, generating shaders, and proficient in scripting. We also prefer a candidate with strong drawing and painting skills and an ability to model hi and lo-poly models in Maya and/or Lightwave. Programming experience is a plus. A background with Quake 3 shaders, a familiarity with the Quake 3 Editor, and experience in animation and effects are also a definite plus, but not required.

Massive has released a 180 meg demo of their upcoming Ground Control 2 game, a 3D action-strategy game and the sequel to the 2000 award-winning Ground Control.

3D Gamers reports that Codemasters has released a new patch for ToCA Race Driver 2: the Ultimate Racing Simulator, upgrading their contemporary racing simulation to version 1.2. This release addresses a pair of networking problems, and includes all changes from the previous patch.

Battlefield Vietnam has had some mixed reviews since its release, one that I found good reading was over at GameSlave where the reviewer came straight to the point showing the games short comings but also at where the game worked well. I just noticed the article has been updated in light of the 1.01 update so I'd recommend people check it out if they have interest in the successful Battlefield series.

The gaming world is waiting for this title, but no one really knew when it would be released. Some people have come to prefer Doom 3 over Half-Life 2 for reasons too long to state.
