XanMod Releases 7.3.3 and 6.18.62 Kernels with Major Security Fixes

Published by

XanMod has released two new Linux kernels, 7.3.3 and 6.18.62, featuring significant security fixes and improvements, including three Xen virtualization patches and various ksmbd SMB fixes. The 7.3.3 version is based on the latest mainline code, while the 6.18.62 focuses on long-term support, with both releases made available simultaneously to cater to different user needs. Users must select the appropriate CPU tier (x64v1, x64v2, or x64v3) for their system to ensure compatibility and performance, as the kernels are not one-size-fits-all. Overall, the release offers enthusiasts access to the latest features while providing a more stable option for production environments with the LTS version

XanMod shipped two new Linux kernels, pairing a fresh MAIN build on the record-breaking 7.3 mainline with a LTS build on the 6.18 long-term-support track, plus real-time twins. Both releases come rebased on upstream code Greg Kroah-Hartman published November 6th and loaded with security backports, including three Xen virtualization patches and a wave of ksmbd SMB fixes. Unlike a one-size-fits-all kernel, XanMod splits builds by CPU tier, so users must pick x64v1, x64v2, or x64v3 to match their processor or risk a failed boot.
