I'm going to start my review in reverse. This is a really cool app. TrayDir is handy, well laid out, and has numerous customization options. I liked the ability to right-click on the system tray and click on a recently opened file. That allowed me to open something I had opened earlier without searching for it or opening another program to open that program.
The main window is also impressive. There are plenty of settings that aren't complicated to use. You can add or remove locations to monitor, show file extensions, explore, rebuild or change some basic settings, including minimizing close, start minimized, and other things.
TrayDir fills an interesting niche, in my opinion. Sure, you can download a file or search manager, but if you want to keep track of frequently opened files and folders, TrayDir is pretty cool. One downside is that TrayDir requires installation, and it would be an awesome portable app. It won't work simply by copying it to any random folder, as some apps allow.
