Fedora Linux 45 Final NO-GO: Ship Date Slips to October 27

Published by

Fedora Linux has declared Fedora 45 Final a "NO-GO" due to the absence of a suitable release candidate for testing, resulting in a delay of the original launch date from October 20 to a new target of October 27. The announcement was made on October 15 by Operations Architect Aoife Moloney, indicating that there were no candidates available at all for Quality Assurance (QA) to evaluate, marking a departure from previous NO-GOs which typically involved unresolved blocker bugs. The next Go/No-Go meeting is scheduled for October 22, and if the October 27 target is missed, there is a fallback date of November 3. Users are advised to refrain from installing Fedora 45 until a confirmed release candidate is available, and those needing stability should continue using Fedora 44, which still has ample support remaining

Fedora has declared Fedora 45 Final a "NO-GO" because no suitable release candidate was available to test, leaving QA with nothing to grade. The announcement came from Operations Architect Aoife Moloney on the devel-announce mailing list on Thursday, October 15. With the original October 20 GA date abandoned, the project is now chasing a new target of October 27, with November 3 as a fallback, and the next Go/No-Go meeting is set for October 22. Unlike past Fedora NO-GOs that stemmed from open blocker bugs, this delay was a "NO-GO by default" with no candidate published at all, so users should hold off installing until the schedule confirms a shipable build.
