Faugus Launcher 2.5.1 has been released, featuring an improved GPU selector and the removal of two outdated Proton backends, Proton-EM and UMU-Proton. The updated GPU selection tool allows users, especially those with hybrid-graphics laptops, to choose specific GPUs for their games, replacing the previous blunt "Discrete GPU" toggle. The developer, Felix Ribeiro, has refined the launcher based on user feedback and aimed to streamline the application by focusing on a cleaner default Proton system. Faugus remains a lightweight alternative for running Windows games on Linux without the need for terminal commands, maintaining a user-friendly interface while still offering robust backend support

Faugus Launcher 2.5.1 released today, adding a refined GPU selector and dropping two abandoned Proton backends. The update replaces the old "Discrete GPU" toggle with a more accurate per-device picker, which matters most for hybrid-graphics laptops running NVIDIA Prime offload. Faugus also retired Proton-EM and UMU-Proton because neither has been maintained in months, steering users toward GE-Proton and custom builds. Developed almost entirely by one person, the lightweight launcher sits alongside Lutris and Heroic by favoring a simple, fast, attractive interface over raw features.
