SSE Technology In New Intel Prescott Processors

The most interesting aspect of Prescott is maturity. By this I mean that it will walk into an arena with more SSE2 applications than Willamette/Northwood did. The new additions are welcomed and exciting for tech freaks, but the most important thing which is happening is the wide use of NetBurst optimizations. This will speed up applications across the range of NetBurst products. The same is true for HyperThreading. We can expect more HT aware applications and therefore benefit more than any improvements to HT itself may bring. NetBurst has been out for some time now and I think most people realize how it can be severaly counteracted by 'poor' code and how ferociously fast it can be with P4 optimized code. This is what really needs to happen more and AMD's entry into the SSE-2 arena will help further this cause.
