I can't confirm or deny the AOL situation, but I *can* confirm that AOL/CS's offshoot Walmart Connect, simply turns you away (even if you have an existing account), if you try to use the WIN2K version of their software with XP. You are greeted with a dialog box that tells you the software is not compatible with Windows XP, and given an 800 number. You're told to call and cancel your account! Now, there *is* a minor issue with the software with XP, but it is easily resolved by right-clicking on the icon, choosing the compatibility tab, and setting it to run as if under WIN2K. I was using it thay was for about a week with zero problems, until I met up with their message box. There is no way around the dialog box. Click "ok", and you are disconnected. A call to their customer service people results in NOBODY having any idea what to do. Their folks don't even know that their product is a re-badged version of CS's software. You would think, that if WalMart/AOL/CS have teamed up to try to *get* customers, they'd either:
A) Have tech support people smart enough to know that the software actually works fine if you use it as I have described.
B) Offer you a no-charge temporary "upgrade" to AOL, using the AOL software, until they resolve the issue.
Instead, their "solution" is to simply tell you to cancel your account. Gotta love it.

Oh yes, I'm sure AOL is fine for you. You just don't have the needs that would reveal how bad it really is. I do computer upgrades. When ever I dial in with a clients AOL account, I'm lucky if I even get a 31K connection. But with all others they dial in at 40+K. If you notice the 6.0 won´t even show your connection speed on login. I have helped dozens of people switch from AOL but never had anyone ask me to help them switch to AOL It may be fine on broadband but on dial up it sucks. You ever try to quit your account with AOL its like going to hell, to get them to stop charging your credit card. They can´t believe you would be calling in and wanting to discontinue there servers. They almost beg you not to. Its like a bad girlfiend you can't get rid of.
