Mushkin PC 3500 - Corsair 3500 C2 - Aquarius II

Published by NewsFactory 0

Well, where to begin? I can't emphasize how *easy* it was to overclock this RAM. I recently have had some RAM in my hands (four times RMA'd now) that would not even do stock speeds at 3.0v on my old IT7-max. It was a joy to get my hands on such a quality product; I know this ram still has headroom. It also does have a pretty swanky "trademark" black PCB, although it's hidden for the most part under the copper heatspreaders.

2 Geforce FX 5900 Cards Reviewed

Published by [NT] 1

Today NordicHarware.com has compared two GeForce FX 5900 graphics cards: the reference model straight from Nvidia and the Gainward FX PowerPack! Ultra/1200XP Golden Sample. NV35 is a long card, very long to be exact. When I was about to install it the first time it did not fit, it was too large. After some rearrangement it fitted with only a millimeters margin. (The cards on the image are (top to bottom) NV35, NV30, R350 and NV34.) nVidia has said that the final PCB will be an inch shorter. In other words it will still be a little longer than an NV30. Hence to mount an NV30 or NV35 in an SFF case is not a smart idea.

ABIT IS7 Max II Advance Motherboard

Published by NewsFactory 0

Viper Lair takes a look at the ABIT IS7 Springdale today, and if their benchmarks are any indication, this mainstream board demonstrates that the Canterwood is not the only game in town.

Let us remind you one thing that was obvious today? make sure your ABIT IS7's BIOS is updated to v1.3. Not everyone will have an ABIT Canterwood to compare against, but it seems likely to me that an ABIT IS7 with the Game Accelerator BIOS will make a strong argument of considering a Springdale, specifically the IS7, rather than a Canterwood.

ATI All-In-Wonder 9000 Pro @ Viper Lair

Published by NewsFactory 0

ATI has been making the AiW series for the last several years. Today's review will look at one of ATI's latest but not necessarily fastest All-in-Wonder video card.

Quality is something often overlooked by many people, but quality is very important, especially in a video card that you will be looking at quite alot. The 2D quality of the card was very good, besting most of the other cards I have tested so far, including a Radeon 8500LE and the GeForce 4 MX 440. 3D quality without any antialiasing or ansiotropic filtering is very nice, and the AA works very well in its job of removing the jagged edges of the polygons, though the ansiotropic filtering isn't always used, so in our tests didn't show any type of improvement.

Samsung LTM295W 29'' LCD Monitor

Published by NewsFactory 1

Monkey Review.com have thrown up their Samsung LTM295W 29" LCD monitor review! Here's a byte:

There?s no question in my mind that most of you, if it was possible, would love an LCD plopped in front of you rather than a conventional CRT which hogs up 50% of your desk space, well, what if it was not only an LCD but one which is larger than most of your mates home TV? With a viewable area of 29? the LTM295W will appeal to those either looking for the crème de la crème monitor or a great looking high end HDTV ready TV or a combination of both. The Samsung LTM295W offers us at least one feature which makes me a lover of it right off the bat.

CoolerMaster Aero 7 HSF

Published by NewsFactory 0

OCIA checks out the CoolerMaster Aero 7 HSF in their latest review! Here's a snip:

The first thing you'll notice about this heatsink is it's big. This provided a bit of a problem for me in that I have an Asus A7N8X Deluxe motherboard which I dearly love. It is so crammed with extras that there wasn't much room to work with on the install. I eventually broke down, removed the motherboard and the sink installed in a snap. This was because in my PC75 the chip placement means there was only about an inch of clearance between the bottom of the power supply and the base of the heatsink. I didn't feel this was worth the risk of cracking the chip and after a couple of tries I removed the motherboard. The thumb clip was a breeze and the motherboard was installed and it was all running in less than an hour total.

Intel Pentium 4 3.2GHz Reviews

Published by [NT] 0

Here are two reviews for you reading pleasure about Intel's new baby, the Pentium 4 3.2 Ghz. Anandtech: With the introduction of the 800MHz, Intel has put the nail in the Athlon XP's coffin - whatever chances AMD had at regaining the performance crown with the Athlon XP were lost when Intel introduced the 865PE and 875P platforms. Luckily for AMD, the Athlon 64 is just around the corner but it's clear who the winner of the Northwood vs. Barton battle is. FiringSquad: Therefore, we?ve got to give the performance crown to Intel at this point. As time has passed, AMD has used its processor rating system to grow at a slower rate. Sure, the bus speed and cache improvements have certainly improved the processor?s overall performance, but when Intel is improving its bus speed and jumping in increments of 200MHz on its processors, the 30MHz ?step? AMD just undertook with the Athlon XP 3200+ pales in comparison. AMD is essentially doing just enough to get by, and it?s beginning to show. Read More for more reviews.

ATI's Radeon 9100 IGP Reviewed

ExtremeTech reviews the GPU on ATI's recently announced Radeon 9100 IGP motherboard. This new value targeted motherboard is a Pentium4 range board. According to ExtremeTech ATI is still 'tweaking the memory controller. The problem is that entry-level Pentium 4-based PC makers are hard-pressed to deliver decent 3D performance at a very low price-point. But it's also an opportunity for ATI; and one the company has responded to with its new Radeon 9100 IGP system chipset. ATI's latest integrated solution, which is targeted at both laptop and desktop systems, brings DX8-level technology into a north bridge, and with it respectable entry-level gaming performance. This DX8 level of performance means pixel shader hardware, and the in the case of the R9100 IGP, the ability to do vertex shaders in software.

eVGA GeForce FX 5900 Ultra

Published by [PM] 1

eVGA is one of the first to market with a graphics card based on Nvidia's GeForce FX 5900 Ultra GPU, and it offers one feature that no one else has (for now at least): higher clock speeds! With video input support, it also boasts video editing capabilities. How does much faster is it, than the GeForce FX 5900 Ultra reference card, and how does it perform against ATI's Radeon 9800 Pro? For their e-GeForce FX 5900 Ultra card, eVGA has bumped the core clock frequency to 500MHz. Yes, you read that correctly, 500MHz! As a result, the e-GeForce FX 5900 Ultra matches the fill rate of GeForce FX 5800 Ultra, arguably its biggest highlight. On top of the higher core clock speed, eVGA boosts the memory clock frequency to 900MHz. This feature nets the e-GeForce FX 5900 Ultra an additional 1.6GB/sec of memory bandwidth. Find out, as FiringSquad explores its performance on an Athlon XP rig with all new custom demos.

Kingston HyperX KHX3500/512 DDR Memory

Published by [NT] 0

"While I was able to boot at the advertised settings of 434/2-3-3-7 the system wasn't stable. Playing around with the settings I was finally to get stable at the final settings. It should be no surprise that the Corsair XMS3000 was able to hang tough even though it isn't "rated" as high as the HyperX. It also was no surprise that the Crucial PC2700 wasn't able to overclock well."

ATI All In Wonder 9800 Pro

MSI Mega 651 Barebone PC

Published by [PM] 0

The Tech-Report is reviewing MSI's entry to SFF. The Mega PC design was presented at this years CeBIT 2003 in Germany and the exterior design made MSI fans and would be's eager for more information. The Tech-Report were delighted by some features of the Mega PC but it falls short in the performance arena: In a perfect world, the MEGA would have been released last year when its chipset was competitive, or it would be arriving now with a Springdale chipset. In the end, the MEGA651's dated chipset knocks it out of contention for performance-hungry power users aiming to build a new primary PC. However, I'd be more than happy to hook the MEGA651 up to my TV to be used as a home theater system. I'd even put it in the bedroom so I could surf TR in the wee hours a little more comfortably and have near-silent CD or MP3 player available. (Really, I just want an excuse to admire the MEGA's sweet backlit display.)

Athlon XP 3200+ 400MHz FSB Processor

Published by [NT] 0

PC-Stats.Com have published their review about AMD's new baby, the Athlon XP 3200+ 400MHz FSB processor. Here's a snip: Because the AthlonXP 3200+ runs on a 200 MHz FSB, many of the older chipsets will not function properly with the new processor. Officially only the nForce2 (including nForce2 SPP, nForce2 IGP, etc) and VIA's brand new KT600 chipset support the processor. It is possible to run an AthlonXP 3200+ on older chipsets like the KT333, KT266A, etc but you'll have to overclock the motherboard and AGP/PCI slots. Please keep in mind there are no guarantee if you do this, and it does void all warranties Read the full review over here.
