Liteon 32X CDRW Review!

Published by [NT] 1

Anonymous Writes: Competition in the optical drive market keeps getting hotter and each manufacturer must keep pace with the others to survive. In the past, drive speeds roughly took a year or more to increase, however, during the last couple of years, we?ve seen speeds increase much faster. Last year we saw the advent of 16x and 24x write speeds and the 10x re-write speed. With 2002 we expect to see at least 3 new speed grades introduced- if not more. So far we already have 32/12/40 units entering the market and both Plextor & LiteOn have already announced 40x units which could be shipping in less than two months Click on Read More for link to the complete review.

3DMark2001 SE Review!

Published by NewsFactory 9

Just got word that Tweakers Australia have just finished their review of MadOnion's 3DMark2001 SE benchmark utility. Here's a byte from their review I though I would give my impressions of 3DMark2001 SE before the larger majority of testers/benchmarkers go ahead with a 40MB download. For those of you on a broadband connection you probably already have it, but for those still stuck on dialup - I suggest you have a read before you make the giant leap!

As usual when you first open 3DMark you are greeted by a cool fading logo. This has not ceased to exist on SE, although the words 'Special Edition' have now been added. I was curious to what the actual difference was in SE, hoping for some new scenes and demos. However, I do know for a fact that these changes have been made in the SE version...

Envy News Reviews The Swiftech MCXC370!

Published by NewsFactory 0

Envynews review the new Swiftech heatsink: Swiftech sent me their latest design marvel, the MCXC370. When I took the heatsink out of its box and looked at it in the light, it was a beautiful sight; form and function meeting in cold metal, and a reputation for getting the job done like no other. Staring at me from under the fan were 188 shiny helicoid aluminum pins set into a thick block of copper with the smoothest base I have ever seen.

They're also giving this fine case away! Just fill out your name and email on their contest page for your chance to win!

GeForce 4 Review @ HardOCP!

Published by [NT] 0

The guys over @ HardOCP have written a review about the GeForce4 Ti4600 as well as the GeForce4 MX460 cards. Here´s a scoop:We reference much of the GeForce4 technical data in order to keep focused on what's important about this launch, instead of mindlessly rehashing information you most likely are already familiar with. Also what you will see here that is most likely to be different from the norm is the fact that we are not going to drag you through countless GeForce4 demos. While specific demos built to serve the abilities of a specific GPU can certainly show its power, those demos shoot way above what you will see on your monitor when playing the games available today. We want you to know what the GeForce4 is going to bring to you in gameplay. And after all, gameplay is pretty much the only reason to buy one.... So head over to HardOCP and read the complete review.

The Tech Report Looks @ GeForce 4 Chips!

Published by [NT] 0

I saw this @ The Tech Report. This is something they said:
JUST ABOUT ACCORDING TO schedule, NVIDIA has unveiled a top-to-bottom refresh of its entire desktop graphics product line. The new NVIDIA chips, dubbed GeForce4 Ti and GeForce4 MX, bring with them a number of new features and better performance, which is always a good thing. However, they do little to advance the state of the art in 3D graphics, nor has the GeForce4 Ti unambiguously recaptured the technology lead from ATI's Radeon 8500. Envy News and MouseWars: Everglide Giganta Vs. Ratpadz!

Published by NewsFactory 0

My older setup consisted of my precision pad smacked right in the middle of my huge GamePC cloth pad. Which brings me to one of the two shortfalls of the 3M Precision pad; it's size. Puny little thing it was? I sure beat that pad to death. After some use the pad tended to warp, which was its other gripe. I've know a few people that went through more than a couple of these. It was upon these flaws that the next generation of gaming mats was created. So, without further adieu, I present the Ratpadz and the Everglide Giganta.

Just got an email from Matt@OverclockersClub.com that he's just finished the Multifunction Transfer Panel review.

I have been wanting to get one of those Compunurse temperature probes for sometime now.. One reason is because I don't really trust the "on-board" temperature reading diode, and I would like to have another temperature to compare with. However, right before I was about to buy one of those Compunurse probes, I found a company called KingWin, which had a familiar looking device, which came with a compunurse temperature monitor's

Today 3dXtreme take a look @ the Vantec CCK-6035D socket A cooler.
Here´s a blurb: "Overall the Vantec CCK-6035D is an excellent choice heat sink for anyone. It has one of the easiest installations you'll see with a heat sink, which is important if you are switching heat sinks often. It also provides great cooling at a low price. nVidia Detonators 26.25 & 26.53 COMPARED!

Published by [NT] 13

Well.. there are new Detonators again. So I've tested these drivers too. I used the scores of my earlier NewsPost. My system hasn't changed a bit so the scores are the same. These 2 new drivers are challenged against Detonator 23.11, 27.00, 27.10 & 27.20.
The test was done under Windows XP. I tested the drivers with 3DMark2001 with all options on. And I can say the 27.20 still rocks!
