Nexland Pro400 And Samsung SW-240 CDRW Review

Published by [PM] 0

Our mate Dean Nottis from 3DXtreme has posted a couple of new reviews this week and I just wanted to pass along the info to you. Nexland Pro400 Internet Security Box Along with the speed and convenience of a broadband connection users are now connected to the internet constantly. This 'always connected' service leaves users suseptible to hackers wanting to gain access to their PCs. One of the most important tools broadband service users need to be using is a firewall. Samsung SW-240 CD-RW Drive The drive itself has a unique front panel than what I'm used to. Typically the front tray is flat and plain, Samsung has added some style to it by rounding it out and inserting a nice grey button for the eject function.

Windows Media Player 9 Review

Published by Newsfactory 0

Just got word that Icrontic.com have posted a review of Microsoft's new Windows Media Player 9 'Corona'. Here's a byte from their article:

Microsoft, have in the past two years or so, been attempting to make a surge in the Internet Media industry. With eyes focused directly on rivals RealNetworks and Apple, two companies that have long dominated the Internet Media world with their RealPlayer and Quicktime software, Microsoft was set to take the world by storm. Microsoft first launched their grand scheme with the release of Windows Media Player 7, a completely overhauled version of previous WMPs. It featured support for Microsoft's very own Windows Media Audio, along with various other audio and video formats such as the popular MP3 and AVI formats. Microsoft followed by opening a new media "portal", similar to the portal RealNetworks offered to its users. The portal was dubbed, "WindowsMedia.com". Today at Icrontic, we take a look at Microsoft's latest effort, the upcoming Windows Media Player 9, formerly codenamed "Corona". WMP9 is scheduled for release on Sept 4.

Klipsch Promedia 5.1 THX Speaker System Review

Published by [PM] 1

FiringSquad has a new review online on the Klipsch Promedia 5.1 THX certified speaker system. From what you read they were more than satisfied with the setup. If you are on the watchtower for new high-end speakers check out this review. And start saving some cash. Klipsch did much more than just throw together an extra satellite from the ProMedia 4.1 series and call it a day. The satellites of the 5.1 are unique and now feature spring-clip speaker terminals instead of a mono mini-jack connection. This is what I wanted in my first review of the Klipsch?s a few years ago, so that you could replace the stock speaker wire with some more beefy speaker wire. Even if you don?t want to get into the high-end boutique wire, this setup gives you much more flexibility in terms of speaker placement for large rooms. Review @ FiringSquad

nVidia GeForce4 Ti4200 Review!

Published by Newsfactory 0

I had heard good things about the overclockability of the Ti4200's but nothing could prepare me for what was about to happen. I am used to my Radeon 8500 which is luck to get a 30 MHz boost before becoming unstable, so i wasn't expecting too much. I started off at 275/275 (550 DDR), and it breezed through those test so I upped the core to 300!

VIA P4PB 400-FL Motherboard Review

Published by Newsfactory 0

The Naked Review.com reckon they're the first to review VIA's New P4PB 400-FL motherboard and so do I.

As you probably know by now VIA is cranking out their own motherboards. The P4PB 400-FL is VIA's latest offering for the P4. It features 100/533 FSB, DDR 266/333, and DDR400 support, along with AGP 8X, USB 2.0, and 1394 (fire wire), and of course VIA's new P4X-400 chipset. Not too long ago VIA had put out a motherboard based on its P4X-333 chipset. This board didn't seem to hit the market and even hardware review sites had a hard time getting their hands on one. At this time, nobody has a P4X-400 chipset review out either...... until now.

Round Them Cables

Published by Newsfactory 0

Just got word that ASElabs have posted a new article up about some rounded cables. Do they measure up to their flat counterparts?

These cables are from the Directron?s brand of rounded cables. As shown in the below photo I have a lime green FDD cable, a blue 24? EIDE cable, and a blue 18? EIDE cable. The shorter EIDE cable has markings to indicate it is ATA 33 - 133 compliant. I am about to find out if that is true or not.

VINIX VX-3340 Xabre 400 Review!

Published by Newsfactory 0

VR-Zone has done up a review on the VINIX VX-3340 card based on SiS Xabre 400. VINIX VX-3340 is a great looking card especially the new design with red PCB and a shiny silver cooler that can be found on GeForce4 Ti cards. VINIX has made an inexpensive card looks more classy and high end and it definitely looks more appealing for gamers to get.

The most unique feature is no doubt the Advanced Power System that provide additional 12V ATX connector on the card for more stable power that results in better overall system stability. This feature again can only be found on more high end and expensive cards like Canopus and the upcoming RADEON 9700.
