Matrox Interview @ ExtremeTech!

Published by [PM] 0

ExtremeTech has published an interview with Matrox' Dan Wood, VP of Marketing. This time there are some first facts revealed (clock speeds, features, OpenGL, Fragment Antialiasing support etc.). Head over for the latest information about the soon to be available GPU from Matrox. Here is a snip: Why Parhelia is different: The vision behind the Parhelia was that it was more important to sustain high performance with quality features enabled and to offer innovative new features like Surround Gaming than to focus our engineering investment on making a part that only delivered high (and sometimes meaningless) benchmark numbers with lower quality settings. Other companies are already doing that, and Matrox's goal is to offer different solutions to the market.

Xoxide Modifications PC Tachometer Video Review @ GeekExtreme!

Published by NewsFactory 0

GeekExtreme has posted a video review of the PC Tachometer, a nifty little "Geek Toy" that shows your processor usage on an actual car tachometer.

Snippet: The PC Tachometer is a geek toy, to be certain, but it does exactly what it''s supposed to. It translates your processor utilization onto a standard car tachometer. This could be a really cool mod, but we'd like to see some "non-mod" options (enclosures, external or internal) for those people who don''t like to cut holes in their boxes. Still, we can''t fault it for that, so we''ve given it our highest rating.

Apocalypse 1500 - 4 Chip SLI 512MB RAM (16x AA) - A GeForce4 Killer!

Published by NewsFactory 1

Just saw this @ Xabregamers!

The Apocalypse line of graphics cards will be very impressive. We actually had to flip the card to where the processors are facing up. This is because of the size of the heatsink & fan combinations. We know graphics cards are not made like this because of heat problems between the card, and the CPU, but we are have a heatsink & fan design that will desperse the heat away from the CPU of most motherboards. The fan will actually be a dual fan (like on the Russian Tu-95 Bear Bomber). The clocks for the Apocalypse cards will be nearly double what the GeForce 4's are. With our new memory architecture you can see at the most 3 - 4 times the fill-rate of a GeForce 4.
