NVIDIA has now well and truly broken out as the number one chipset supplier for the AMD platform and they are also making their way onto the Intel scene. They have become so dominate on the AMD platform that they are now able to offer a wide range of supporting chipsets. They plan to offer total support to AM2 users with a range of four different chipsets, being the nForce 590 SLI, 570 SLI, 570 Ultra and 550.

Overheated system chipsets can cause instability, causing unpredictable system crashes. It tends to happen when an inferior wafer/die is used in manufacturing. If the power dissipation exceeds specification, cooling is required or it will kill the chip. That's why el-cheapo VCD players always break down - so you have to buy again.

Has SLI improved with the new GeForce 7600 series? The short answer is a disappointing no. Even with the addition of vertex shader units and much higher clocked core, the GeForce 7600GT SLI behave in a similar way to the GeForce 6600 SLI and 7800GTX SLI. With a hit-or-miss proposition on performance and a surpassed quality offering, the only advantage SLI has at the moment for users is ease of installation.

As both my X1900 cards are cold bugged, while making a waterchiller for the cards, I tried SLI on Intel 975 Bad-Axe Motherboard with 2 x Inno3D 7900GTX at safe clocks of 980/980MHz. The result with Intel Conroe X6800 @ 4.75GHz is amazing! It hits 15,877 3D Mark 06, with my first run!

AMD wont be happy to hear of this news i'm sure. Although mentioned the other day that AMD's AM2 platform may yet be quite the competitor to Intel's Conroe with its reverse Hyper-Threading feature, more recent news has since surfaced over at the XtremeSystems forums.
