Later today, ATI will officially announce the Xpress 3200 core logic -- a 110nm low-k core logic for AMD Socket 939 and the still unannounced Socket AM2. Over the last couple of months I have been repeatedly asked a question from people wanting to upgrade or buy a new PC. The question has been, should I get a dual core AMD Athlon 64 or single core and what speed should I get? This has also been a hot topic not only in our forums but right across the internet. Two distinct camps have developed: die hard dual core fans and die hard single core fans. Truthfully, during the testing of this article and my research I have felt like I have been playing Black and White 2 where you have one guy sitting on one shoulder and another on the other, both arguing their cases to me. Neither one are the devil, but neither one comes out as the undisputed angel either.

When the new ATI Dual x16 PCIe chipset launches in a couple of days, you will be able to buy motherboards on launch day from at least one manufacturer. The Asus A8R32-MVP Deluxe will be widely available for sale on March 1, and it represents an upgrade of the current A8R-MVP with improved performance and Deluxe features. Asus also continues their use of passive cooling on the A8R32-MVP, with no active cooling fans.

We heard faintly that NVIDIA is going to demonstrate Quad SLI technology using GeForce 7900 GTX cards over at CeBIT. Apparently, NVIDIA will be allowing manufacturers to make cards for Quad SLI too. Last but not least, GeForce 7900 GT scored almost the same 3DMark06 score as the 7800 GTX; ~4K.
