Here's some games updates...

1) UT Strike Force 1.75 has been recoded from the ground up to provide more action and intense squad based combat. We redeaigned Strike Force for more fun, more action and a faster overall game play experience. Bugs were eliminated from our last version and a smaller, faster version was built. This new version is a FULL install and weighs in at only 110MB. It includes 10 maps with a full map pack following in two weeks.

2) Global Operations Public Beta Enter the world of specialized warfare, where you are put in 13 of the world's hot spots like Chechnya, Sri Lanka and the South China Seas. Choose from 7 specialties (Sniper, Commando, etc?) and from over 30 weapons and equipment to go in and accomplish your mission. Only as a team can you defeat the opposition.

3) Blizzard have released a new patch for the WarCraft III: Reign of Chaos beta, updating their 3D RTS to version 1.10.

4) Renegade Free Dedicated Server Westwood Studios is proud to announce the release of the free Renegade Dedicated Server software for Windows operating systems. (We are looking into a Linux port at this time, and this may be a possibility in the future.)

I just wanted to let you know there is no such thing as an UT2 alpha test. The person that reported that has the E3 U2 alpha build.

Unreal Tournament 2 News and mystery UO Guest revealed. What a crazy week here at the studio. First our UT2 WP being copied and then James coming on board to taunt us about how much fun it is to play test Unreal Tournament 2. Counter-Strike 1.4 BETA is now publically available.

The Single Player has 20 missions on 5 different locations around the world. Each mission has 9 objectives where you for example have to defend specific items from the enemies or have to fight through a mission all by yourself, trying to kill the enemies without being killed. The mode that will definitely be something for the tactical guys is called no-reload. As the name implements you can't reload any weapons. If you kill an enemy though you can pick up his and use the remaining ammo but if your clip is empty and an enemy has spotted you, you are pretty much screwed. These already sound like a lot of fun, and there are 6 more to come.

For Star Trek Fans, another game is out. Bridge Commander It has been released yesterday by Activision.

We reported earlier that Unreal Tournament & RtCW were banned in Germany here. First of all there needs to be said that only the UK and US versions of RtCW were banned at that time, but the german localization is currently in testing. Furthermore according to a german gamer community called NetGen the BPjS is currently reviewing Counter-Strike and the german version of Half-Life if these titles are applicable to be banned from the market...

The Operation Flashpoint patch 1.45 has been updated to 1.46. Namely the chopper landing problems have been addressed. Also barrels scoring has been fixed.

Westwood Studios have a new patch ready for the FPS Renegade. The updated version is 1.015 and again only multiplayer fixes are included in this update: Minor updates to firewall negotiation queuing. This was preventing players joining games in some situations (usually when many players were trying to join at once, or when many players hit the abort button on this dialog). Minor updates to low-level packet handling which were causing server instability when unexpected traffic appeared on the game port. LAN hosting is now allowed on routable IP addresses. Cosmetic fix to game list control which was displaying multiple selected games when the list was refreshed in some cases. Update: By extracting the always.dat file located in your Renegade/Data directory, an anonymous reader of Warp2Search found a developer text concerning Renegade Gamemodes...

The generous promotion give-away during the Dungeon Sieg Sweepstakes by Microsoft and the games developer Gas Powered Games seems to turn out as a boomerang for the "lucky" winners. The official announcement as well as the winning confirmation email gave the impression that winners will receive a copy being identical to the retail version just a bit earlier than other gamers: This sneak preview copy of Dungeon Siege is the full version, complete with limited edition CD artwork. [Quote from the announcement] The sneak preview is not a limited-play version, but the complete game, so you'll be able to fully explore every feature this amazing upcoming title has to offer. [...]
To answer your question as to why we are waiting until March 11 to start production - we wanted to ensure that this sneak preview version meets all of the same high quality standards as the shipping product. [Quote from the winning confirmation email] But confusion was lit by a post in the official sweepstakes forums @ PlanetDungeonSiege where Darren Baker of Gas Powered Games posted the following: This prerelease version will allow players to experience the entire single player and multiplayer worlds and be able to join network games with other contest winners for cooperative or competitive play. We have received numerous requests asking if the prerelease build will be compatible with the final game. The game will change as we finish development and this prerelease build will not be compatible with the final release build of Dungeon Siege. Pre-release built? Bohemia Interactive Studio has released another patch for their tactical first person shooter OFP. This 6MB release includes loads of fixes and requires patch version 1.30 to be installed first. Gamers can find the long list of fixes/changes by clicking here.

Westwood Studios have issued the first patch for C&C: Renegade their recently release first person shooter. This patch fixes multiplayer flaws mainly. Unfortunately no enemy AI fixes are included.
