ScreenGrab 3.0 and lxqt-panel 2.2.1 released

Published by

The LXQt team has announced the release of updates for two of their software components: ScreenGrab 3.0 and lxqt-panel 2.2.1.

ScreenGrab 3.0 now supports capturing screenshots on Wayland compositors that implement the wlr-screencopy-unstable-v1 protocol, which includes popular environments like Labwc, Hyprland, Niri, River, Sway, and Wayfire. Additionally, a new command-line option has been introduced, allowing users to save screenshots and exit the application without displaying the window. The update also features bug fixes for two previous issues related to auto-saving and the minimized command-line option under X11, as well as GUI improvements.

The lxqt-panel 2.2.1 release enhances functionality under Wayland compositors compatible with wlroots. The "Show Desktop" plugin is now operational, and workarounds for issues with kwin_wayland have been implemented, including proper minimization of child windows and removal of redundant attention demands. Furthermore, a rare crash in the Task Manager related to drag-and-drop operations under Wayland has been resolved, and several code cleanups have been performed.

Additionally, the team has released Qps 2.11.1, which fixes the issue of launching the application without a configuration file.

All of these releases are available for download on GitHub.

In summary, the LXQt team's updates reflect their commitment to enhancing user experience and compatibility across various platforms, particularly with the growing use of Wayland compositors. As the development continues, users can anticipate further improvements and features that align with evolving desktop environment standards
