Mesa 26.2.0, the latest development release, introducing the experimental Jay shader backend for Intel Xe architectures and a complete rewrite of the intel/gen instruction encoding module. OpenCL 3.1 support has expanded to five backends via Rusticl, while Vulkan 1.4 extension coverage has grown significantly across AMD, Intel, ARM, and NVIDIA drivers. The update also patches numerous real-world gaming regressions and includes a critical security fix for unbounded heap writes in Gallium VA-API. As a development branch, it is not recommended for stable desktop use yet, with distribution maintainers advised to wait for 26.2.1 or pin to the 26.1.x line.
