Mesa 25.2.5 released

Published by

Mesa 25.2.5 has been released as a bug-fix version of the Mesa 3D graphics library, which is an open-source platform providing implementations for various graphics APIs, including OpenGL, Vulkan, and OpenCL. This latest release features a range of fixes and enhancements from numerous developers aimed at resolving issues related to shaders, real-time clocks, and video encode feedback. Notably, improvements were made in the handling of shaders, particularly with the Panfrost driver, as well as updates to Vulkan query pools that now effectively manage video encode feedback. The RADV driver has also been adjusted to only display requested encode query results.

In addition to these technical fixes, the release includes updates to version control and documentation, such as an updated SHA sum for the previous release (25.2.4) and a modified VERSION file to accurately represent the new release number. The Zink module has undergone significant changes, eliminating the use of VK lazy allocations and transient attachments, which may enhance performance in certain scenarios. Furthermore, memory leaks in Vulkan/runtime and the RADV driver have been addressed.

The Mesa development team is actively working on future releases, with the next bug-fix update scheduled for October 29th. Users are encouraged to report any issues they encounter through the Mesa GitLab issue tracker to assist in ongoing improvements.

Beyond the major fixes, there are smaller adjustments to the Mesa codebase, including enhancements to the ACO optimizer, which now correctly handles operand order, and improved error handling for RADV when invalid parameters are used to create border color samplers.

Mesa 25.2.5 is now available for download, and users can verify the integrity of the release using the provided PGP signature. For the complete list of changes, users can refer to the changelog associated with this release.

As the development of Mesa continues, the community looks forward to further enhancements and optimizations in upcoming versions
