Debian GNU/Linux 13, codenamed Trixie, is set for release on August 9, 2023. Emilio Pozuelo Monfort has shared the timeline and important details regarding the release process. A full freeze will begin on July 27, meaning that any package wishing to migrate to the testing branch must obtain an unblock. Developers are encouraged to submit updates aimed at Trixie by July 30, as no packages will be unblocked during the final week leading up to the release, except for critical fixes.

The community is also invited to participate in release parties, which can be organized by anyone interested. During the final days before the release, testing will be fully frozen, and developers are urged not to submit requests for non-critical issues.

Users are encouraged to test the upgrade process from the previous version, Bookworm, to Trixie. Should they encounter any issues, they are invited to report them against the upgrade-reports pseudo-package. Additionally, any significant changes that should be included in the release notes can be reported via the release-notes package or through a merge request.

The Debian community is excited about the upcoming release, and developers and users alike are urged to contribute to ensure a smooth transition to the new version.

Looking ahead, the Debian project continues to emphasize the importance of community involvement and transparency in its development processes. As more users adopt Trixie, ongoing support and updates will likely be a focal point for the project team, aiming to enhance user experience and address any emerging issues swiftly
