The final version of Audacity 4.0.0 has released today after a few beta releases. The update introduces a modern, clip-based editing model, high-DPI interfaces, and a new .aup4 project format while dropping legacy features like Sync-Lock and the old draw modes. Despite the overhaul, the release intentionally omits time tracks, MIDI support, and the mixer to keep the focus on refining the core audio editing experience first.
