Amethyst Mod Manager 2.3.0 Adds Elden Ring Support and Proton VFS

Published by

Amethyst Mod Manager version 2.3.0 has been released, introducing a new Virtual File System (VFS) deployment method that allows Linux and Steam Deck users to overlay mods through Proton without modifying the Steam prefix. This update also adds support for Elden Ring and its Nightreign spinoff, bringing the total number of supported titles to over 95. The development, led by ChrisDKN and built using Python and PySide6, has rapidly improved the tool's capabilities, making it a strong competitor to Windows-focused mod managers like Vortex and MO2. Although the VFS feature does not cover all games yet, it significantly reduces conflicts with anti-cheat systems and enhances the overall modding experience for Linux gamers

Amethyst Mod Manager 2.3.0 has officially landed, bringing a long-awaited VFS deployment method that lets Linux and Steam Deck users overlay mods through Proton without touching the actual Steam prefix. The update also expands AAA support to include Elden Ring and its Nightreign spinoff, pushing the total supported title count past 95. Developed in Python and PySide6 by ChrisDKN, the open-source tool now ships via AppImage, Flatpak, and the Arch User Repository with stable and beta channels on Flathub. After nearly two years of breakneck iteration, the manager is rapidly closing the gap with Windows-first competitors like Vortex and MO2.
