:D I played SCAR on a 21" EIZO screen thats quite impressive .... damn that you are limited on a TFT ... so the big question is ... when will non-CRTs be able to handle such resolutions ? as the percentage of flat screens is increasing quite rapidly

Higher resolution TFT means more pixels which increases the risk for getting broken pixels. But personally I'd like 1600x1200 to be native resolution on 19" TFTs since 1280x1024 is native on 17" TFTs.

Yeah its horrible seeing all these 19" LCDs running at 1280x1024... Its a bad resolution in the first place, not even 4:3.. And if your an older person or just using the comp for email etc. its fine, but for anyone else your getting the same screen as a 17" but blown up a little bit (bigger pixels). Next step up is the dell 2001fp which is 1600x1200 res.
