The plugins are very importent for WinAmp.. without them.. it doesn't work but the program may have some bugs or something like that.. so indeed the Winamp 2 project can continue.. but i hope they give more time on Winamp 3..
There are two teams for development: One for Winamp 2.x and one for Winamp 3.x! So, there will be a new version of Winamp2.x! Also PP's plugins are not 100% PP's plugins: He works 'only' on the plugins and other people help him (or Nullsoft and him?) to improve the plugins (e.g. 'in_mod.dll' - Winamp 2.81 contains beta14, in the Winamp forums you can get beta15). But, why he removed the plugin package? Chaos
