Nope. Unless your using some chickenwire to connect it, it will all look/sound the same.

Just another laughable example of a manufacturer trying to con money out of the morons by putting big words and big promises out. Their cable looked to be no different to many other (cheaper) cables on the market. And dont get me started on the whole gold plated plugs thing again - 'better conductivity'????? only when uve got gold plated plugs to go with them, and who has those on their PC, TV or Hi-Fi????? People....wise up.......Its the classic placebo effect in action - tell idiots that the sound and picture quality will be better, and theyll start to hear and see it...... UNless youve got a small nuclear reactor next to yr hardware, ull never notice any difference, even with cheaper cables.... phew!

actually if you twist the chicken wire the right way you'll get the same results, kekekeke. Gabe over at Penny-Arcade is one of the poor saps that falls for the whole Monster Cable bs, how sad it is!

Yes quality cables make a difference and yes i have gold plated plugs on all my shit duma$$!! The problem here is that youve got it all wrong....cables dont improve signals they degrade it!! Only thing better cables do is lessen the signal loss!! if you are just average joe with his 49 dollar apex dvd player then get the cheapest you can......but the better the system the better the cables....lol...i bet you guys think 200$ is a lot for a dvd player, huh?? simpletons and you are all some hi-rollers too...

What are you comparing this to?? to the 19" Sanyo tv in your moms basement? I have a 51" Toshiba HDTV Widescreen HX Cinema Series, its one of the best 51" tvs on the market, the difference is night and day. The image is 10x sharper, the color is 10x crisper. What are you basing your opinion on? If you seen the difference maybe it would change your mind, so untill then maybe you should remain neutral on the subject Same difference on my home stereo i have a THX approved monster s video cable and fiber optic. I can change between the cheap S video and the THX one on my satelite and you can tell the difference. Its an amazing upgrade. You used the word 'Hi Fi' that makes me believe you most likely still have a cheapass vcr or a beta, cables make a difference a huge difference. I cant tell TOO much on my old 32" jvc but its still a slight better, even tho, still enough to notice. Bigger/Higher quality TV your gunna get better results with better cable, its simple. You spend $3500 on a TV and get $9 cables its gunna be the bottleneck of your home theatre. You spend $300 on a cheap TV and $95 on an THX S Video cable your not gunna notice a damn difference, the $9 cable is probably even too good for the TV

Hi all, The cable quality only makes a difference on Analogue signals. By that I mean a digital signal doesnt care about the quality of the cable/connectors you are using until you go beyond a certain length or if the connector isnt servicable (then you get nothing or intermittent connection, not reduction in quality of signal). If you do make a cable comparison, visual quality only is worth comparing if you are to use digital sound. Nothing is as good a connection as an unbroken wire. Where the wire needs a break, connectors are fitted. These connectors invariably corrode/tarnish unless they are gold plated, reducing the surface area of connection and potentially inducing capacitive effects which alter the signal in the frequency domain (creates strange effects). A direct metal to metal contact of same metals with no corrosion is best but its very hard to achieve in the mainstream, hence the use of gold plate on the terminals. Copper is a much better connector, but only if you clean the copper contacts very regularly. In the long run copper will give you a worse connector than a gold plated one if they are just left alone once plugged in. Using a gold plate terminal and a normal cheap corroded terminal together isnt ideal as the mismatch in the metals will induce other abnormalities, but it is much better than 2 corroded silvery terminals together. The cables themselves have different properties too which in the case of video can have a number of symptoms/effects starting with: High loss (whole signal degradation), Dot crawl, Loss of colour information, Loss of sync etc... The equipment you are connecting to will also matter. The electronic circuits and quality of connectors/electronic components used can have a large effect. In general, the cheaper the equipment you use, the less likely you are to see a difference using expensive cables. On higher quality equipment you will be able to tell differences between cables, how much varies between manufacturers/models (different circuits etc). Some cable types will match the electrical characteristics of your video equipment better, some can look terrible! Its a matter of trial and error to see which suits best. For best long term with no hassle, gold to gold contact makes the general consumer and makes many audio/videophiles happy too. Anyone who wishes to go further can do so by getting specialist or specific materials. Whether a particular cable will suit your xbox/ps2 is subjective and depends on your "video equipment". Only thing you can do is try it and see. my 2.5p's worth :) ps just for good measure use silver polish on your 'silvery' end connectors then clean them up well after.

:P Bloody rich-ass big head :) Only joking....seriously tho, i work in the industry and know for a fact that the cables you bought gave the store you got them at least a 300% mark up on the price THEY paid for them. We make the same cables across the board - most go to general hardware stores and component shops - others are rebadged and have slightly better connectors added and are sold to our high street stores like Dixons, Comet and Currys where they retail for up to 10x as much - please dont tell me i dont know what i am talking about because i do every day i go to work - we employ the tactic because the large stores ask us to - cabling isnt rocket science - but clever badging allows certain stores to make a better mark up than they do on selling a major appliance (often just a standard 50% lift). So they are happy, we are happy and the end customer is blissfully unaware - the smart cookies however, continue to know that they can buy the same cable elsewhere for pocket money. Im sure your cables are great quality, but i also know you neednt have paid as much as you did for them. And in future please do not try and insult my intelligence by referring to any equipment i may own as 'cheapass'. My home stereo is made up from old 70s valve gear - still the best in the world with a sound that cant be matched. You, sir, clearly have stars in your eyes....

Heres what I'm saying. I use the regular svideo PS2 cables and i get a good picture, i use the monster cables i get a greatly impoved picture, one i am very happy to have paid $35 for. Yes they marked up, everything is marked up, its called profit. Bottom line, it made a huge difference on my tv and i am very pleased with my purchase. The same goes for the rest of my home audio/video monster cable purchases. I would have returned them if i was not satisfied. :)

It will look and sound the same if you have cheap equipment. When you have better equipment, the ability to produce better quality improves and the cable can become the weakest link. Your "cheap and works better than expensive" cable will start to show its bad side. Of course, as another post here suggests, you can buy some cables from many places at different prices. It is worth finding some facts and shopping around if you do care about such things. The higher quality cables tend to more protected from this though. Many years ago, I started using mains wire instead of bell wire for my speakers (I was young :)). This made a large improvement which you would expect. Now doing a modern day comparison between bell wire and various hifi speaker cables I have, shows quite a difference in character between all the cables, the most brash sounding being the mains wire. Sorry Thomass997, your statement is a little short on information and as it is, is clearly wrong. Maybe on your equipment you cant see the difference. Its already been demonstrated that lesser quality equipment is less fussy to cable changes. ;)
