You wont see many cd-r's coming out with anything hgher for quite some time, with the buffer underrun protection there's no need. And the cost of the cache is still expensive to add in large amounts.

But I have never had a disc go bad while burning 24x on my lite-on, so is the buffer a big deal? I know 32x isn't (I have seen it in action) but 40x it very well could be.
